Trailer

The survivors of Banoi thought they had escaped the terrors of the tropical island and survived the apocalypse on a corrupted paradise. Then their fate took a turn for the worse. Shortly after the battle-hardened team had landed their helicopter on a military ship, a furious storm hits and havoc quickly spreads on board. Suddenly they find themselves struggling for their lives again with all hope drowning in the rising waves.

With invigorating new elements infused into a proven mix, Dead Island Riptide reanimates the zombie terror for a second battle for life against the dead. A monsoon has hit the once beautiful archipelago and heavy rainstorms have laid waste to large areas of the islands. The city of Henderson and jungle areas on the island of Palanai were flooded leaving boats as the only remaining way of transportation.

Players will be able to import their character stats from the previous game, but the new game takes place in a new location. It's the same archipelago, but not the same island. The game will launch in 2013.

With the Director's Cut mod the game was amazing. Really fixes up a lot of things. Anyways...

From the Riptide trailer, I hope the game has that emotion. The original trailer and the original game were too different. Didn't even seem like a trailer for the game when you played it. I hope this doesn't turn out to be the case with Riptide.

Apparently this is just a spin-off or something. Won't cost the full $60 either.

Dead Island was one of those games I really wanted, yet never played.
I'm a fan of anything zombies.

If you do, get it for the PC and use the Director's Cut mod. The GOTY Edition on Steam is only like $20.

Idea: remove all the towns, basically make it the island paradise without the samey boring town levels.

That would be awful.
It would remove the feeling of, "This entire island is dead, and out to kill me"

Add character customization and I'll play it.

Otherwise meh.

Actually there is supposed to be a fifth character, and it allows character customization.

I would love it if they made a Dead Island game where there isn't some big (crappy) story, and it just takes all the good stuff, plus some more, with everything fixed up and balanced and what-not, and just a ton of quests and random events to always keep you busy. Just a really good true Zombie RPG.

IE: dead island. Removing the towns doesn't mean removing the resort, people, and locations, just the generic town. If they do add a town they need to make it colorful and tropical, i remember the town in game being mostly gray tone.

I loved the town. Especially the bandits. I felt so different when I killed my first live human.

It was boring to look at and had a dull atmosphere, unlike the earlier segments where i was on the beach or jungle.

Fill this with zombies and you're sure to have a unique experience as long as core game mechanics work well.

DEAD ISLAND: TOYLAND
RATED EC FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD

Again a trailer which does not reflect the game at all.
This looks more like some big DLC then a whole new game.

Overall, i am not buying it, literally.
