But we are better than everything else. It amuses me that people would actually value the life of a small kitten over an actual human being with more complex thoughts and feelings. It sure is easy for you to focus on wars and murders and torturing people but humanity has done more good than it has bad. We've invented that computer you're using, which has revolutionized the entire world. We've also invented the medicine that was used to vaccinate you as a child and save your life, so that's another one. Lassie didn't do that. And animals don't start wars because they are stupid and do not understand the concept of 'war' or what causes war - moral issues, territorial issues, bad diplomacy. Animals don't deal with any of these things because they don't have the same level of intelligence that humans do. This doesn't mean that they're unimportant or useless, it simply means that a human life is infinitely more valuable.
Other animals don't show the same level of intelligence or sentience that humans do. They can't understand property laws, or language, or emotions, or pain, or anything of the sort. Were it to come down to me having to choose between killing a dog or a person, it would always be the dog simply because human life is far more important. Dogs and cats don't advance medicine with research. Birds and lizards don't create machines, or work in factories, or keep the public safe. They don't have friends or families that will mourn their death and have it scar them emotionally. A human life is just more valuable. We are infinitely more intelligent.
You're making the pathetic attempt to compare a complex organ which we've yet to fully understand on the human mind, let alone any other species available. You're comparing a single feature of an organism and saying it immediately implies they're better. Guess what, your average cheetah can run MUCH faster than a human. By your silly, nitpicked standard, this implies that they're better.
We've created a system that helps determine how we live, we haven't created a universally advanced property, but a mediocre and mathematically basic one. All life is valuable, and no life is comparably greater. Lacking the ability to understand that shows an incredible amount of unintelligence.
"Yeah well the color red is better than the color blue because it emitts more light!"
the difference being that i wouldnt kill a small child because they are a fellow member of my species
The human mind has advanced beyond primal instinct. We no longer assume that our species is the only one which is valuable. If you do, you, once again, lack an incredible amount of intellect.
