In recent years, more and more indie games have been popping up on the radar. Some are good, some are downright horrible. I wanted to hear your opinions on the matter.

They're okay so long as quality is good and "Indie" is hyped as a status and not a feature.

I like it

they provide the gaming market with original concepts and gameplay, well a lot of them do at least.

it's ok

few indie games are actually worth it imo

comparing the resources an established team has and an indie dev has makes it pretty obvious that an indie game team will never make games that look, sound, or play as smoothly as an established team can.

they're okay as long as the creators don't use the excuse "it's indie" to justify the fact that the game is horrid.

but it's great for people who don't want to work for big companies. they can make cool games themselves in a small group. if i ever become a game designer, i want to become an indie game designer, no doubt.

i absolutely hate the "get X discount if you buy in alpha/beta" bullstuff

it ruins games, maannnn

I'm happy that there is now a huge indie market.
Even though there are tons of stuffty knock-offs, there is a lot of potential for innovation

how the hell is "indie" a feature in the first place .....

Didnt people whine about how indie games were destroying the market like eight years ago when PopCap got popular? Or was that casual games?

Thanks. Damn iPhones.

It's a lot easier for new and unique idea's to be shown and make money now, And publishers are slowly becoming less important with how easy it is to use steam, While it also means that the pure number of games is pretty overshadowing.
