Author Topic: What would the forums like to see in a spaceship? Come up with ship names!  (Read 3643 times)

My favourite part in building a spaceship is the life-support and its rooms.

What I'd like to see in a large sized spaceship is a structured set of hallways each with their own purpose. They should also interlink with each other.
yeh so we don't get lost
cough cough CB HQ cough cough

Also a restaurant with robot waiters and the menus as tablets instead of paper.

I'd like to see some detailed hallways. Whether they are like hallways in Federation ships from Star Trek, or just something bare with all the structural and other gizmos showing, it's all up to you. But a big part of the fun is to explore these places. You can possibly colour-code the hallways if you want to.

oh god

Started working on ship. Hull is going to be based off of a lego model ship i made. The ship shall have 22 stories so ideas on what to put in it.

Houses attached to rockets.

I have one in my pants already...
Everywhere you look, there's a face of somebody who needs you!
The small XeO3 1101 cruiser should work, but the dupsave is in Plant's hands.

Too bad it only has 2 beds.
Bulletproof glass.
Then pull a magical wand out of your ass to make it driveable.
Ok, I'm here and ready to serve.

noooo i'm  using this in my spaceship.
You will need a Capt'n

I fell into this problem on the 1101

I had to make the bathroom and shower seperate rooms

I'd tell you that I have no idea what the forget that is...
But I don't even know what loving game it's from.

I lol'd.

I was being serious

A spaceship that looks like a pirate ship would be the most badass thing ever,

What happened to that really big spaceship you were working on?

I stoped working on it since later i learned hull design and thought it was really bad.

I like an even balance of detail and ship size. I like details but it becomes very problematic when you get down trying to make extreme little details. Comr4de's ships show this balance quite well.

Also, there must be a balance between corridors and critical rooms. I try to keep things realistic by having toilets and showers and plenty of quarters, in addition to other necessary rooms and whatnot. Corridors should go throughout the ship but have doors at some points to prevent total loss of travel throughout the ship in the case of atmospheric decompression. Turbolifts must also go throughout the ship, but space on blockland ships is limited so you have to prioritize. Also keep in mind using the biggest bricks possible to maximize hull strength while reducing lag and keeping the ship looking nice and clean. Thick hulls make for a strong ship but can make it cramped and they can be penetrated with directed piercing weapons such as beam rifle lasers. Thin hulls allow more space inside the ship but are easily penetrated, and can be easily laid to waste with radius-damage weapons, such as rockets, torcreepes and flash cannon lasers.

Also keep in mind strategically placing rooms so that it isn't easy for invaders to overtake the ship. Corridors are important for this. Fighting in critical rooms is very dangerous as equipment can be damaged and in the crossfire something very important could get hit that could even destroy the entire ship. There's alot to take into account when building ships so it's a complicated process sometimes.
