Obama is a communist!. Do your homework, folks! You just study it out!

I wonder why there are so many people that say relegion is evil, despite all the good has done.
it is a major force for good.
Every service a religion offers can be done without having faith. Religion was started by primitive humans trying to find reasoning in what they don't understand. Now that science has explained nearly everything, we don't need it. The main reason religion still exists is because it is so effective at controlling people.

We don't need religion. In fact, we're better off without it. Even to this day science is hindered by religion (creationism, alternative medicine), religious violence is still rampant (although less then the Crusades era), and an incredible amount of hatred and bigotry (two of the most notorious hate groups in the United States, Westboro Baptist Church and the kool kids klub, are both run by the same thing: Christianity).

Its not just a justification. It also causes this nonsense, and supports it.

Relegion has been a justification- not a caust- to hinderance of science, education, etc, but, it is a major force for good. Just because some one uses relegion as a justification for killing, it does not mean that all relegion is bad. The soviet union for example used equality as a justification for killing millions, and yet equality is not bad.

Your "facts" can not ever deter me from the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (AKA Mormonism) because I have a knowledge that the church I belong to is true.
Yes the bible has imperfections, but you must also remember that it has been translated from many diffrent langauges, by many diffrent peoples, to reach this modern time.

For those who say I only like Romney because of his faith, please know that Senator Harry Reid is also a Mormon but I do not agree with his political beliefs. Anyways back to politics.

"Relegion has been a justification- not a caust- to hinderance of science, education, etc,"
Incoherent.

In its original hebrew text, in the original testament, it promotes even more contradictions.  Surely, you don't want to use this to try and defend your point.  The original text defined the earth as the center of the universe, with the sun revolving around it.  God would've known about the universe before his creations did, no?  Or, is that too difficult for you to comprehend.

"You cannot rid of my faith because I'm too ignorant to see beyond my own bias!"
Way to scream stupid, boy.

religioun stuf

I'm all for jesus, I'm all for god, but I don't see it happening, there is no proof other than a super old book, and from what I see in the typical church "PRAISE GOD OR GO TO HELL" is what I hear. Most NEW churches, aka MY church, is more "Here's what the bible SAYS you should do, here is what I, as your mid-30s pastor who dresses in jeans and a graphic dress shirt and spiked hair on Sunday, believes it means: Cut the crap, don't be an starfish, help eachother out"

Anyways back to politics.

Good discussion thus far, but I wish I could see more facts. If things progress well I may show / bring up a few points with my teacher (defiantly not my parents, they would just NO ROMNEY IS GUD K N IF U WAN UR CAR U LIEK ROMKNEE)

and has done more to advance science and education then you can even know

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAaaa... ahhh.. heh...

good one

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAaaa... ahhh.. heh...

The fact that he assumed it advanced a system which it initially looked at so disgustingly, it defined death for those who presented it, is enough for me to assume he simply doesn't have a clue as to what he's talking about, and doesn't even know about his own religion.

You say that our science is so advance that we nearly understand everything, and yet we only know 2.5% of all matter in the universe. Jesus Christ taught these 10 commandments-

ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.'

TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'

THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.'

FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.'

FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.'

SIX: 'You shall not murder.'

SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.'

EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.'

NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.'

TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'

How are the teachings of Christ immoral and controlling? My relegion teaches us that it is through our good works and faith in Christ that we gain Eternal life, how does that harm society? Your saying that that harms society by making LDS people do good for others? I don't think so.

As I have said before concerning a group, by saying that Christianity is evil becaues there have been some bad apples in the bunch, is like saying that all Americans are evil because our ancestors slaughtered Indians.

You say that our science is so advance that we nearly understand everything, and yet we only know 2.5% of all matter in the universe. Jesus Christ taught these 10 commandments-

Knowing about everything in the universe =/= 10 commandments

I have been a member of my church at the age of 8, and yet you claim to know more about it. You guys are just laughing at what I say with out backing up your logic. It helps in a debate to have good sound logic defending your point.

Knowing about everything in the universe =/= 10 commandments
I was replying to another point, I am sorry for not making that more clear.

My church teaches that we should pray and find out for our selves whether or not something is true.

It's not about the inner workings of the Church and whatnot, it's about history and what religion has done according to facts.

You guys are just laughing at what I say with out backing up your logic.

Because anyone with a decent sense of logic and knowledge of history knows how handicapped your points are.

Then point them out to me as clearly as I am able to understand because of my low IQ.

The Catholic church was the very foundation upon which European civilization was built upon. With out no Catholic church, no European civilization.

I believe this has been said before but

stop arguing about religion and other opinionated topics, BECAUSE THE ANSWER WILL BE DIFFERENT FOR DIFFERENT PEOPLE. No you cannot change someones religion by saying "no, ur wrong". You're being ignorant if you think that. Still wanna argue? Cuz your gonna be arguing for a long time, there won't be a universal agreement on religion anytime soon.

tl;dr stop arguing while you still have some dignity.

10 nice phrases does not mean the Bible positively influenced human history. Why don't we go over the other quotes in the Bible? Like this one?

It also has nothing to do with science in the first place.

Right, thats why we should bring out concrete proof, facts, points, etc about our beliefs instead of just saying our way is better and calling the other side an idiot.
