Author Topic: Today's Mainstream Music v. Classic Music  (Read 12876 times)

Okay, then it's not "today's music", its today's pop music.
No, it's the same with other genres, too.

I love classical music,
and that techno hippity hop

because there totally aren't great bands nowadays that are founded by the same principles of the ones you listed

every generation has stuffty music >.<
the stuffty music is forgotten, and the good remains

what darkness said ^

I know this...

I have already acknowledged that there are some good bands nowadays. This entire topic is my opinion and a huge generalization.

exactly, a HUGE GENERALIZATION
there was stuffty music when the beatles were around. there was stuffty music a hundred years ago. as long as there has been wonderful, meaningful music there has been stuffty music.

What I'm saying is that this topic and theory can be applied to any year in the history of music. I bet that in ten or twenty years, no one will know about the bad bands and the ones like Foo Fighters, The Killers, and RHCP will still be talked about, the same way The Who, Nirvana, and The Rolling Stones are today.

Just not as many crappy bands as there are now.

Just not as many crappy bands as there are now.

And you know this how?

Just not as many crappy bands as there are now.
Not true, there was a lot of crappy bands back in the day.

ugh. i can't stand people/threads like this.

>"no skill."
Okay, while some musicians might only be good for their vocal chords. But there are other musicians, mostly musical producers like deadmau5 and Hellberg have talent. I'd like to see you make something of similar and/or equal quality in the same amount of time they do. [hellberg, as of late, has gone kind of inactive, but w/e.]

...no, there were a similar amount. The only reason why the Beatles were remembered and not the crappy bands is because, to put it fairly straightforward, is because they were actually good.

People need to stop going "omgwtfbbqgangnamstyleaaaaaaa" over any new pop that you can deem as bad. Some [as in most] people like it, others [like you, grumpy mister/miss] can't stand it and are willing to take a shotgun to get rid of it.

seriously, stop.

For the 50th time. I am saying that it's not that much skill compared to classic rock bands. I know I can't do what they can do, they are skilled. Just not as skilled as classic bands.

And I can state my opinion wherever I want. I am not being grumpy, I am just stating my opinion. I am not trying to bash today's music, I am saying that I like classic rock more. It's all just my opinion.
