I already have Windows 8 Professional, but I installed it on a virtual machine instead of as my OS.

Whoever thought that replacing desktop icons with giant boxes with boring pictures that resemble street signs was a good idea should be fired. The guy that thought removing the start button was a good idea can join the guy who got fired.

why/how could you "upgrade" to a lower version of windows?

I didn't. I went from XP > 7 obvo.

thats a hell of a long time on xp.
dx10 drivers for video cards werent even compatible on xp.
and even then, xp never had a true 64bit OS, only the fake one that simulated apps horribly.

wow, both of them are full of stuff i'll never use. it's almost like the default apps on my phone.

windows 8 does have a classic desktop a person can use. why dosnt anyone know this.

Because its major selling point is the NON conventional desktop.

If I wanted a loving iPod, I would get one.
Dammit Windows, stop trying to imitate Apple and pull your stuff together!

Might as well use Windows 7. All the updates went into that new ass backwards system.

I'm probably going to end up getting it, if only because I get PC's too often to be able to wait out a whole update cycle for windows, but I'm definitely waiting at least for the non RT or whatever version that actually has a desktop.

yeah but its major deter point is the new stuff, that everyone is hating. stuff they can simply opt out of using. but are unaware they have the option lol

you dont need a start button. add a run icon to the desktop. yeah its annoying but its like the only thing you have to do to make it a normal windows again.
everything else under start is just icon shortcuts anyways. things that can be put anywhere.
