yeah but its major deter point is the new stuff, that everyone is hating. stuff they can simply opt out of using. but are unaware they have the option lol
Might as well use Windows 7. All the updates went into that new ass backwards system.

Noting was updated or changed for the desktop mode. Its a waste of time updating at that point.

any other reasons you dislike it other than "it's different"?

i suppose this change has been more radical than other changes over the years but it's still no excuse. in the event you were, for some reason, forced to use 8, you would eventually get used to it.

i'm not saying that you only dislike it because you hate change, because I've heard plenty of valid reasons to not like windows 8, and i'm not defending it either. i'm sort of in between. the UI is cool, but i'm mostly concerned about gaming support, and if there's not much of that, i'll be sticking with 7.
That's like saying
"So you don't want cake because it's different than pie even though you've been served pie for several years?" Of course if I've been served pie for years and suddenly cake without warning, I'd be pretty upset.

what ya'll don't realize is that the companies are leaning toward mobile products for everyone

tablets and stuff
therefore, windows 8 is a tablet os

they're just putting it on desktops cause they can't kick everyone off of desktops that fast

thats what everyone says when every new OS comes out. and it holds true for about 6 months.
till video drivers wont support the old stuff anymore. or new hardware isnt designed to work on the old OS.

Because its major selling point is the NON conventional desktop.
i want YOU to eat this broccoli

but you have the option to eat the hamburger if you want i mean it's there but i RECOMMEND you eat the broccoli.

they're both desserts, and i'm sure you would've gotten tired of pie all the goddamn time.

you dont need a start button. add a run icon to the desktop. yeah its annoying but its like the only thing you have to do to make it a normal windows again.
everything else under start is just icon shortcuts anyways. things that can be put anywhere.
why run?  You can still use the new start menu like the old one in terms of typing a program name and hitting enter.

What was that one key combination that let you tab through windows in a cool way?

i use run for everything lol.

i dont even click the start button for anything, ever. its like a stuffty taskbar that takes 1 more click to get into. just pointless lol

But the start menu is like the quickest way to open cmd.exe.

If I wanted cake I'd go get cake.

win+tab, being removed in windows 8.

that's your choice to deplete the last of the pie while we're just sitting over here having fun enjoying our cake

oh forget NO

cmd.exe.

is an icon that can be put anywhere on the computer lol.
if you use it that much, then you are wasting your own time by not having it on the main taskbar anyways. since it takes 1 less click without a start button.

Why would they remove something that cool?

thats a hell of a long time on xp.
dx10 drivers for video cards werent even compatible on xp.
and even then, xp never had a true 64bit OS, only the fake one that simulated apps horribly.

I had a crap computer, though I managed to run Gmod using that directx launch option trick in Steam bwahaha.

Awful.
