How nice of you Lub to purposely pick this week for a comparison. It's like you knew there was actual downtime and you wouldn't receive the regular inaccurate stuff from Pingdom!

Downtime doesnt have to be all at once. Being down for 5 minutes 4 times in the month could result in loss of progress and it forces clients to start up again.

What do you mean by "loss of progress"?

I think a couple people have testified that he alerts them when stuff goes down.

If it takes you more than 3 minutes to save then you probably have worse problems.

I'm starting to feel that there are too many hosting services...
Anybody who wants to start a new paid hosting service is out of luck.
Anybody starting a free one won't get a lot of clients, either.

Let me rephrase that. 3 minutes should be enough time assuming there is someone on the server already to save it to not lose progress, although it's still, of course, short enough to be too annoying if it happens repeatedly.

Not sure what you're referring to, but I've shutdown less than 4 times in the last 2 years.

I have never had a problem with downtime using Kalphiter's service.
