Pretty sure PNGs, BMPs and RAWs are equal in quality as they're all lossless formats.

RAW is a completely uncompressed format, then I believe is BMP, PNG, and JPG. Size depends a little on the image but generally speaking RAW > BMP > PNG > JPG but I have had PNG images are larger in the JPG format.

Many cameras use slightly lossy compression on RAWs and BMPs are often stored in an 8-bit format. PNGs are more than likely fully lossless.

Any good DLSR shooting in RAW should capture the image without sacrificing any data (if it's compressed, then it can't be RAW; RAW is literally data straight from the image sensor to the card. This is why it can't be viewed by many applications other than Phoyoshop, or similar programs). PNG, however, can be saved as interlaced, which in my book is quality loss. Had no idea about BMPs, though; my bad... I don't actually use that format... :3

dunno what the hell I did to make this

This hurts my eyes, it would be better if you reduced the blur a little bit.

Here are some 8.5"x11" images i made in Photoshop.
they make nice backgrounds on smaller monitors.
Hope you guys like them.

just to put in something i made recently:

i was using a picture of this island i made as a background for another computer, but decided today to remake it. i think it turned out pretty well, but i wish i could take a 1.9k res image in a 1.3k res blockland.
Ew aliasing.

I edited a picture that I took of my Kodak Retina IIIc 35mm film camera, you can view the unedited photo on my Flickr account here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ghostbrick/8304459554/in/photostream
All of the stars are actually also taken straight from one of my photographs of real life stars seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ghostbrick/7638773346/in/photostream/
