Author Topic: Advice guide to picking a Operating System: V2  (Read 2196 times)

I find Windows 8 to confusing, but looks cool def a os to get if I get an touch screen computer. and I feel like op could be written better.

What this isn't a guide at all.

Apple/Mac:
OS X:
OS X is commonly named after big cats like mountain lion. Although OS X commonly has updates the first version was released in 1999. It originally ran on PowerPC-Macs, but in 2006 Intel Macs could run OS X.
OS X V. 10.7 was the first version to have 32 bit and 64 bit Intel processors.

What is this?

"Commonly named after big cats"-- OSX has ALWAYS been named in that style.

"In 2006 Intel Macs could run.."--- WAT. Intel Macs could NEVER run the original OSX, the Intel Mac and Leopard were crafted together. What you mean to say is Apple introduced Intel processors and changed the architecture... but that still has no relevance to picking an operating system.

The Wikipedia page you linked for Linux barely gives any information on Linux distributions. The proper link is this one.

Thanks. Editing OP.

I've installed 64bit windows OS over my 32bit bit one, was this a good idea?
64 bit provides more security and more RAM. One disadvantage though is not all applications/games have 64 bit versions. So it all depends. If you don't mind not being able to play some games but being able to have more RAM, then 64 bit was the right choice for you.

I only really play skyrim, minecraft, tf2 and blockland, nothing else. And yeah, I like a lot of ram sometimes
