The first purge didn't seem to solve the problem, a second one won't help much.

Why don't you just gtfo this topic? All you've done is complain.

I think the purge was badly thought out and unneeded. It appears to be the recruiters deciding they want more power, kicking out everyone they don't like and people who disagree with them. So...

I assume the building ability of the recruiters will be judged by a completely impartial outside judge rather than their friends and other recruiters, then? Otherwise it is likely they'll get in again whether they can actually build or not.
Answer please?

Everyone is re-applying. There isn't a group of people who don't have to. I'm guessing Randy will approve people who present good builds (such as TheGeek/Azazel/LoserHero etc.) and recruiters will then be decided appropriately. It hardly makes sense to have someone outside of MotE choose who gets accepted into MotE.

Thank you. A slight answer: The recruiters are being replaced.

Is Randy being judged? By who?

If they want good builders, should they have someone who can judge who is a good builder or someone who has known them for years and very likely to accept them as their friend rather than what they actually can do?

Randy's in by default since he runs the Clan...

I'm also hoping to see a more balanced set of recruiters. TheGeek was the best recruiter in my opinion because personal feelings for someone didn't get in the way of his decision (unless they were a jerk)

I actually asked randy in a server and he said that he has to re-apply, but as you said, he will get in automatically.

Hooray! Purge! :D

I can't help but feel partially responsible since I became inactive shortly after becoming a member. I feel really guilty about that and I blame it entirely on another 'un-named' game that stole my time. Some of you know what the un-named is. Anywho, I agree with the purge myself, although I also understand a lot of the emotions voiced by certain ex-members.

My personal situation is this:

Age of Conan is coming out next month, and I fully plan and expect to be on that day in and day out. However, that is a month away and none of my games actually feel appealing at the moment with the exception of good ol' Blockland. As with a lot of other members, I feel un-inspired, and can't dedicate myself to a build. It was apparent before the purge that things were slowing down since the moon project. That project itself was good, and everybody chipped in and enjoyed themselves. I think the problem lies in that the next project wasn't fabricated soon enough. People were left to wander, mindlessly building crap to pass time, and lurking on other servers. What I believe MotE needs is a schedule, set days where everybody meets up for a good laugh, and good building session. Also, if it is in the interest of management, this could also possibly be used as re-entry into the clan. What I propose is that you hold a brand new group build, where all ex-members are invited and encouraged to build. What you build, how quickly, and enthusiastic you are determines your chances of re-entry. I think a LOT of ex-members are dreading the thought of building another mass project by themselves. If we all co-ordinated (like a clan should), we could truely see who actually deserves to come back into the clan or not.

There's numerous quotes describing how people should stand together in a crCIA, and I think it applies here. Nobody should feel they are being screwed over here, this isn't a bad thing, this is an opportunity.

What do you guys reckon? Personally a group build would really do my imagination some good and I expect it would be the same for others.

Once again, holy stuff Sniff's back. :D

I think the issue with a group build is that users are not encouraged to come up with their own designs, and instead can just extend existing designs in the group build without having to put any thought or creativity into it.

Coincidently, this is exactly what I had just been talking with Geek about. I can understand the theory that people would regurgitate ideas, but this is an excellent way to determine who doesn't deserve to be in the clan! Everybody would be able to see first hand who is enthusiastic, who is being original and who gets the job done to a quality that everybody can agree is good.

I dunno about everybody else, but I wanted to join a clan for the group builds. When I were a wee blockling I looked around the clans, seeing who was mature, who built well, and who built in groups. MotE fit my tastes perfectly. I fear I may use a few lines already mentioned by disgruntled ex-members, but a lot of the points are true. This is a game, and it is about fun. I have most fun in group projects, and I feel that the best way to decide who deserves re-entry is to do it in a fun manner.

New epic builds are daunting. Group epic builds are daunting BUT they are encouraging, because you can contribute.

Obviously my suggestion is still flawed in areas, but personally I see a potential in it that can't be ignored. As previously mentioned, we risk losing more than expected and that wouldn't be good.

Worst comes to worst, I still enjoy the company of the people, and we don't have to have 'MotE' in our tags to enjoy that. :)

Randy has said several times that if a recruiter likes you you're more likely to get in.

I can take a guess at who came up with the idea of the purge in the first place.

Actually, I've got no idea who came up with Purge², but everyone agreed that it was a good idea.

The originator of Purge2 was...
[drumroll]
Rumour, basically. Chat log of proof:
(21:11)  Spation.png™: Have you heard this rumour going around Mote?
(21:11) Ryan : what is it?
(21:11)  Spation.png™: Not the Kinex thing. Everyone's saying there will be another purge.
(21:12)  Spation.png™: Sure we are in need of it, but I haven't got any official word.
(21:12) Ryan : yes possibly

Ern?

Well, luckily for me I got a few cogs a turning for an idea, won't be anything unique I guess, but hopefully good. Is there any deadline? Something was said about the main post being edited but I haven't seen anything done about that so far.
