During my time working in the water treatment department in my town, I saw the dark side to public water systems. Every month we have over 43,000 tons of chemicals shipped in from different facilities across the countries. Almost all of the chemicals are considered safe to consume by the FDA, in small quantities which they certainly are when mixed with the large quantities of water, but their effects when mixed are widely unknown.
Some of the chemicals included are often found in the process of galvanization of metals, as well as bonding agents from glue brands such as Elmers, which seems pretty odd considering those are considered extremely toxic.
Of course, it wouldn't cause any heavy metal poisoning or leech the bonding agents like the chemicals normally do, which causes death unless treated immediately. So you should most likely be fine.
