someone really needs to teach me how to play this game.

I get pretty decent with a high school / elementary school / first level firehouse and police station, then 3 decently sized spots of low density commercial, residential, and medium density industrial, and as soon as this happens, i start switching out most residential and commercial for medium density, and then everyone goes to medium density, and then after like 3 years all the rich people pour in and buy out all the land and my mayor can live with the moguls and the casino owners but none of them can get jobs in my city?

How can i give these villa-owners jobs? I try plotting out some high density industrial / commercial and i get maybe one or two buildings for each one, one in manufacturing and a high wealth office building, but none spring up after that and there aren't enough for the 50 first class citizens hanging around.

I think industrial density/residential density only limits the largest possible buildings, not what will be built there. For example, I think that a cottage could theoretically appear in a high density residential area, not sure though.

I would PM Bisjac. He helped me for an hour how to figure everything out and its been smooth sailing since. When i seen him do it and i tried it in my own.... i had no idea what i was doing. lol.

click and hold
uhh
does that actually work

brb trying

Nope, doesn't work.

Also, afaik rich people need high-tech.

I like Sim City 4 a lot but I always end up having a huge traffic problem by the time my city is huge

Favorite game.
I have some rather nice cities in this game, all gaining quite a lot of money.

If I were you, assuming you haven't already, I'd issue like a car pool ordinance. And build a subway grid.

A quick Google reveals a new Sim city coming out soon, cool.

still occurs less than in citiesxl, I usually solve it by just PLACING ROADS INSTEAD OF STREETS MUAHAHAHA but people keep whining about too many cars and how they loved streets

only applies to earthquakes, though holding on volcanoes does do the shakey CHARGE sound, however resulting in no change

I remember using a cheat that was a park that gave you an absurd amount of income. Sometimes I would just build as many as these parks as possible and see how unreasonably high I could get my money.
this wasn't for simcity 4 right

I haven't played the older ones in so long I'm thinking this was for SC3k right

yes, density really only acts as a limit.  so "high density" is the highest limit, while medium/low are the ones that can limit what can be built.

Yeah, we've had a few threads about it before. I don't know if it's going to be called SimCity 5 though, looks like they're just going with SimCity.

I disagree, in citiesxl mass transit solves the traffic. In sim city 4 I build a super duper transit network and its barely used.

I'm not even sure if my bus stops or subways are being used.  I'm probably going to get rid of them because I don't see an impact on my traffic network.

this

when people start losing jobs because of transportation issues, i dump bus stops and subway stations and errythan right where they are and nobody takes the ride. it sucks.

Maybe, but in cities XL I had about 6 avenues linking my residential to my industrial, and the little simdiots only used one.
