I don't think 24-30 hours is good response time for an average-level issue.
What was the problem?

Hi

Recently have purchased the one month for a server. I have loaded up all the add-ons that I have, through the Dashboard; however, when I start up the server: bricks; weapons, items, prints, and events are missing, not all of them but at least half.

Is there a solution that doesn't involve me using an FTP if possible? If not, would I just need to delete all add-ons uploaded through the dashboard, before uploading them again with an FTP?

Thank you.

Hi Deadzone,

Quite a few add-ons on your server are disabled - are you sure you've enabled the ones you want?

The solution is as follows:

Quote
Hi - The add-on "Player_!Question!" was causing problems due to the author putting exclamation marks in the filename (really there shouldn't be punctuation in filenames - it's unexpected and badly handled!).

I've made some changes to cope with this which I've deployed so please give this another shot and let me know if you're still experiencing problems.

Additionally I've added a day onto your contract since it's partially our fault your server wasn't fully functional for the past 24 hours.

Thanks.

In the end; the server is working, I'm glad the solution was found. (The error was a small thing that ultimately, was my fault.)

It is when the two people running it work full time and don't live with their parents. Anyway, the issue was resolved and the customer is happy, that's the end of the issue.

Many people say RTB hosting is cheapest and the best!

It's definitely the best, and really affordable.

I would pay more than what I pay now just to have a west coast server.

I lag on my own server. :(

We're absolutely looking into having a west coast presence. It's a very viable option in terms of cost and given the interest from existing/potential customers there's clearly a lot of value there too.

Why not just have one in Europe?
It'll reduce ping for a lot more players than having a system on the West coast will.

What....?? The only people a European server will reduce ping times for is those who live in Europe and the UK. US players, especially west coast players, will see their ping times top 200ms.  A west coast server will greatly help ping times for those living on the west coast, as latency times from there to the current east coast RTB servers are at 125-150ms depending on the person you ask. A west coast server will drop those to 50-75ms for most people, and even more for some.

Edit: Here is some tests I did for average latency to the CBMHosting server in Missouri and RTB in New York. As you can see, the RTB servers favor the east coast and overseas for average latency, while CBM is more even in terms of latency for both the east and west coast along with the central portion of the US, and that is because it's more centrally located. Note: this is latency between datacenters, the average latency of a residential connection to the servers will vary greatly depending on your ISP.

that would make my year.

would it be possible to transfer my stuff over to the west server if this happened?

Yeah absolutely - we've got a robust server migration system which allows you to move your server over to another of our nodes at the click of a button, so that's no trouble at all.

We'll keep you posted with any developments on new location opportunities in this thread.

i dont see a big problem with ping

i usually have about 300+ ping in every server i go into, but its not that bad.
