Author Topic: gay people - how do you feel about them?  (Read 15416 times)

so why do they do it? Because they want to feel like a 'real' family?
Well, yeah.

Raising a kid is a pretty fulfilling experience from what I've been told by my parents. :l

I really don't understand why people hate gays, to be honest.
"Hey, that person has a different mindset and a different way of being happy!"
"WHAT?! BURN THE HEATHENS!!!1!!1!1!!one!1"
Then again, a lot of people can't get along with anybody and someone being gay is a good enough excuse to be angry for those people, I guess.

Sometimes from loveual frustration gays are known to spontaneously molest other guys, which gives them their bad rep.

I heard that gays can spontaneously transform into bug creatures who feast on the genitalia of male children!

I don't care what people want and don't want to do, although there are obviously some lines here, like murder and things that are actually bad

Yes, exactly. I still would like to ask gay parents how they feel about it; they're definitely aware their child will be bullied and discriminated against, so why do they do it? Because they want to feel like a 'real' family?

Having hetroloveual family doesn't shield you from bullying. Moot point really.

The idea a gay couple shouldn't raise a child who needs a family because hypothetically some douchebag might give him or her a hard time for it is ridiculous.

I don't know, but for example I have a gay aunt and it's really awkward since I have to be really careful with what I say, I don't want to offend her or anything.
just relax. if you offend her, let her know whatever you said was an accident/out of ignorance, not hate. make sure she knows you don't care who she loves.
Think about it. No matter how much they 'love' you, many societies shun homoloveuals.
You'll get bullied. You'll have trouble making friends (maybe gay friends but that's about it). It will be awkward at parent conferences. It will be awkward at 'Bring your child to work' days. You may be even at a disadvantage for jobs. People will dismiss you entirely because of how and whom you were brought up by. They will all assume you're gay, too. Are you willing to have a life of hardship and discrimination just so you can keep a smug smile and declare 'I am perfectly happy!'?
And that attitude of shunning is slowly changing, is it not? It's an uphill battle but it'll be resolved one day.
Bullying isn't an excuse.
People will make fun of you for anything, as lolzorz said.
Not allowing something for the sole reason that people don't like it and children will bully you for it is bullstuff
To think that people raised by gay parents can only make gay friends makes no sense. Children of heteroloveual couples can have gay friends. It won't be awkward in those situations, what the forget do you mean? Unless you're dealing with antisocial, rude pricks who can't deal with your loveuality, it won't be awkward. And to discriminate based on loveual orientation or predestined things of that nature is illegal, so you wouldn't be at a disadvantage. And unless they're a dumb, they'll know that being raised by gay parents does not make you gay. Being raised by gay parents is not at all scary or much harder than being raised by straight parents. The only noticable difference is the intolerance of others, which shouldn't affect their ability to adopt.

You realize by adopting they're giving an unwanted child a home? Even if being raised by gay parents had extremely poor social implications, it's better than being an orphan, no?

Truthfully whether a person is gay/straight doesn't really matter to me.

I've met people who later tell me they're gay, and it doesn't change a thing.  I wouldn't discriminate against any other kind of person just because of something like that, so I wouldn't do it to them either.

However, that doesn't mean I won't willingly protest against their constant wanting of rights they don't deserve, no this doesn't mean gay marriage or such, that's okay with me.

I'm talking about things like being able to be openly gay in the military, when a male and female both enlisted cannot show affection for each other.  It's just not fair.

I'm willing to treat anyone on Earth fairly, and no more

There is no gene with a strong genetic correlation for homoloveuality tendency, it's mainly environmental factors. Even my liberal psychology teacher confirms this.

I don't know what I think about this issue. From what I understand, gay people are allowed in the military, but they are not allowed to show affection for each other. Is this not fair?

Even so, it's still a predestined, uncontrollable thing, not a choice. :p

How the forget does that even work.

That's okay with me, what I'm saying is they were protesting for being able to openly be gay in the military.

Have you ever thought that maybe it's odd to be heteroloveual?

Also, I don't believe you can choose who you are attracted to, I believe personally that homoloveuals are actually develop that trait before they even enter puberty. However, this isn't a confirmed fact.

Also, this topic needs to be locked, these kind of discussions generally are directive and make people feel uncomfortable.

It's been surprisingly civil, I'd like it to stay open.
