Because it can? There is no definite proof of a single gene with a significant correlation to homoloveuality. There are other factors though. One theory actually deals with mitochondria during development.

If a heteroloveual was in the military, they can talk about how they find some women hot. But if a gay was in the military they couldn't talk about how they find some guy hot. Gays used to not be allowed in the military, like they would be kicked out.
