you are saying that if held at gunpoint by an obviously "postal" enraged guy wielding a gun, and you had a gun hidden on you;

that you would take your chances that he may not shoot you? this wasnt a store robbery where bystanders can just quietly wait it out, everyone can clearly see he was there to kill.

My point was that the force would incapacitate the shooter easily. Have you ever been shot by a paintball gun the chest? It's a plastic ball going around 200 fps, if that. A bullet is not hollow and goes much faster.

i'm not saying they wouldn't have tried if they had guns, they might've.
i'm just saying the probability of them succeding is slim. besides, it's guaranteed if you pull out a gun you're dead, and there's a slightly better chance of survival in a person's eyes if they don't. the principal has a few children, the other staff members probably did too. tell me they didn't have anything to lose.
