Elementary school shooting. ~28 dead, 20 children, 6-7 teachers, 1 shooter

The death toll is 28, 20 children shot dead, 2 children died in hospital, and the rest included teachers, faculty, and the shooter. I live in Fairfield, Connecticut and this only happened 20 minutes from my house. I had a hard time getting through the rest of the school day with my head wrapped around the fact that my youngest brother is still in Elementary school here :( Our school also has students from that district that went there for primary school. All I can say is that I love my brother so much <3 I just wish stuff like this didn't have to happen close to the holidays :(

sure you could kill 25 people with any object - if no one tries to stop you
with a gun no one can stop you unless they also have a gun - and even then they might not be able to. if you just had a screwdriver you'd be pretty damn easy to subdue.

and you couldn't just ease up on gun laws a bit - you'd have to make it legal to be carrying in schools and such to stop most shootings. which isn't going to happen

edit: now let's say we make some super lax gun legislation. you can be carrying anywhere. i'm sorry but all this will lead to is a rash of (perhaps slightly smaller) shootings across the country, as anyone with a bit of money and a vendetta can buy a gun and shoot up a location of their choosing. sure, maybe they'd be stopped sooner, maybe kill half as many people. but the increased number of shootings would still result in a higher death toll

So you wanna teach kids that guns everywhere are normal?
You know that kids are very unaware of the danger of these things right?
You know that they can be very innovative when it comes to trying to get to know what something is right?

Even when you would lock up the guns from children, it's not safe to have guns around little kids.
And then we also have the impact on what they think of guns later by seeing them even in their supposed to be safe enviroment.

You can go tell all the little children that they aren't safe because people are out there killing others okay?

the problem is that eventually someone who SEEMS stable enough to own a gun will walk into a school while carrying. but in reality they're crazy, and something will set them off and they'll shoot up a school. they didn't plan to do it, something just set them off and since it was legal to carry, they had a gun.

yes it seems extremely unlikely - and it is. but it's more likely than someone PLANNING to shoot up a school. so it will happen.
