Species: Artificial Life, Real Evolution is a scientifically-accurate natural-selection video game. It allows you to experience evolution first-hand, simulated from the very first principles of evolutionary science:

Variation (every creature is uniquely defined by it’s genes),
Mutation (child creatures are randomly modified versions of their parents), and
Natural Selection (the environment affects every creature in their struggle to survive).

With these principles as it’s gameplay mechanics, Species recreates the same unguided pressures that drove the development of all life on earth over the last 4 billion years.

Whether you just want to observe, watching and studying as the tree of life constructs itself from a single species, or you want to be an active influence on the development of the species in the game, is up to you.

Please keep in mind that Species is currently an early alpha release and under heavy development. Gameplay is expected to improve with each future update.

Sounds fun but it looks really bad graphic-wise. If they made the textures less stretched on everything then it would be ten times more appealing.

doesnt even launch for me

I believe it's still in Alpha, give them more time, they might just fix the textures...

Looks nice, could be interesting, won't be funded this time around.

Not going to happen.

Yeah, I only found out about this game through Cr1TiKaL, so I'm not sure why it is like that. Clearly they'd never reach a goal like that, but now that his video is out, the game might start making progress. Just needs a few more hits.

Indiegogo campaign has 32 hours left, yet only $826 out of the $35,000 has been raised

Hoping they make it indefinite or something.

Holy forget, half of the creatures in that game levitate like a foot off the ground!

Edit: You can't control your own creature? That was like the best part of spore!

When you control a single one, you gain preference and the others ones end up going to forget themselves. That's why the point of spore was to take over the planet and all.

That was the best part! Then you fight against yourself until you're a giant nation on one planet and you conquer the other planets until you've utterly forgeted up life everywhere! Who doesnt like that?

The point of the game changes over the course of it, which sucked. This one, you maintain the species generated overall.
