I'm gonna be honest, I liked the game, or the progression I guess, better back when CE was forgeted and you could only play for a little bit at a time.
The last time I played, I didn't know what the forget was going on and I basically couldn't progress past 3 stars. I think some of my 5 star stuff just straight up disappeared too. I know for a fact that I had a graviton vortex at one point and it just wasn't there anymore.

basically, you can purchase energy, the in-game currency, with real money, and you use that to buy stuff in-game (you can also get 100 energy with crowns, but that's like 8000 crowns a pop)

it's pretty much pay to win anyway at this point because as of the current, fire crystals and orbs of alchemy drop so goddamn infrequently that you have no choice but to either 1. grind for an eternity to get them or 2. buy them with energy. which would be acceptable if they were cosmetics, but not if they're loving used for progressing through the game (fire crystals for leveling equipment, and orbs of alchemy to craft new equipment/upgrade existing ones)

in the past, you could revive dudes for free by giving them half your health, but that was removed now and replaced with sparks of life, which you also had to either grind for or purchase with energy to obtain


besides that, I haven't really gotten far past the jelly palace in terms of progression, and I mostly have three and two star stuff

Spiral Knights was a fun grind-fest before these changes took place :(

Hopefully Grey Havens can make this game fun again, i really want to upgrade my items, but they too are stuck at their current 3 to 4 start levels

getting 3* items is decently easy. (i just got a toxic catalyzer last night. not sure why, but i did). it's 4* and 5* gear that's absolutely nightmarish to get.
