Give me a run-down of the important updates before the introduction of pets

pets are more of a burden than anything else, really

if you have them autoattack, you will not be able to dash, shield, or use your weapon while they attack, and if you don't have them on autoattack, you will end up barely even using them because in the midst of combat you're not going to waste 4 seconds doing an attack that takes away 1/20 of an enemy's healthbar.

solution: they should attack individually

I feel like you are missing the point of battle sprites, and don't they already attack individually? Sure you can't be attacking or charging your weapon to tell them when to attack, but while they are doing their move you can attack yourself. The "waste 4 seconds" you mentioned is more like 1/4th of a second.

to avoid this problem, all you have to do is try not to double-tap a skill.

My only other gripe is that new players get new eyes and accessories on start now, whereas I have to buy them. I also can't get a flak jacket, which annoys me.

its defense isn't that great but it allows you to strike a lot faster
