most gun crimes are committed with illegally obtained weapons, so gun control isn't going to make much of a dent in crime. If the guy didn't have access to the rifle, he would have used the handguns instead.

maybe it would be a good idea to crack down on illegal firearm distributors before we even get to regulating firearms.
Good luck with the NRA and its subsidies.
My opinion:--Marijuana--It should be legal, but highly strict laws should be in place.--Gun Control--There should be more strict gun laws. I would rather there be very few people with guns (nothing more than a handgun) than there be tons of people with guns. Why? Think of the dumbest person you know. Now picture this person with a deadly weapon. I know some people that shouldn't be allowed to hold a pencil. Also, I thought gun control meant control over all guns in the U.S., which would include illegally obtained firearms.
why the forget did you put weed on the thread
•Ban any weapon that can fire at an RPM of above 10(60 seconds, 10 rounds, that's 1 round every 6 seconds)•Ban explosive devices (aside from fireworks / industrial-grade explosives for mining/similars•Ban calibers .30+link for reference•Require a class 1 license for any type of firearm (not including airsoft/paintball, though at altered PSIs they can be just as deadly)In most cases, that is what it's like today. And it's fine as is. This Conn. shooting? Yeah, tragic. Does it mean that guns are horrible and that we need to remove them from every home and never ever ever EVER let ANYONE aside from a grunt out in the field touch a gun? no.Bad people exist. People who would hurt, rape, murder, rob or just ruin your life given the chance. Though I cannot conceal carry, once I move out of my parents house and am on my own, I plan to get a CC license and keep a .45 pistol on me at all times (given that it's legal in said location). Referring back to an old joke I heard and skipping straight to the punch line; if you call the police for a POSSIBLE robbery, you aren't guaranteed jack diddly squat. If you call the police and let them know you have said thief in a half nelson with a .45 pistol to his skull, your response time varies greatly.I've mentioned this once before, but as a member of the HDAA, every time they send out a weekly e-mail discussing how to best protect your home/family/self, the #1 thing they always recommend? Your own fast response. If your cooking and they bust in through the front door; throw a knife and get to them while they're distracted. Too far away? Grab the closest weapon (this is all assuming you don't carry a firearm on you) you can find and make a dash for it (though they always write these e-mails in the form of the typical family man's point of view, so they always say defend your family and stand your ground if they are there and can't escape.)Overall, what happened in Connecticut is tragic, but it isn't the government's fault. If a man ODs, it isn't the pharmacy's fault unless they didn't tell him NOT to overuse the drug. Same thing applies here. The weapon belonged to the mother of the shooter, and he took it from her possession. He wasn't well. You know what happens when sick people come to power? people die. You know what happens when sick people come to power in a group? they form a group and ruin everyone's day.
I think marijuana should be leagalized, but with strict actions, such as you can only have up to 1 plant in each house, you can only intake so much before it's over the legal limit, etc.
ban weapon magazines w/t capacity >= 5 bullets
uhnomajority of the HUNTING RIFLES I've used / seen / owned average 6 - 12 per magyour implying rifles should be limited to 4 rounds. While this COULD be fair, if your trying to stop a bear from mauling you, 4 bullets is not gonna cut it when that angry ass motherforgeter is charging down your ass unless you place one square between the eyes, which even then is hard.
