Author Topic: Should Jeep upgrade to Windows 8? (Successfully Installed W8)  (Read 3031 times)

Windows 8 has large performance improvements. Literally notable FPS improvements in games.

can the people who claim software incompatibilities please provide proof and state whether or not it's widespread incompatibility or just with their own copy of windows 8?

You can't play Xbox games which makes it kinda pointless
Windows 8 requires at least 2 GB of RAM. Windows 7 only requires 1 GB
  • Xbox games are meant to be played on Xbox.  no way in hell Microsoft would want to deal with making 360 games work on a PC and have to deal with dumb customers who cry about how Halo 4 won't run on their Intel HD 3000 powered laptop.
  • if you don't have 2GB of RAM you're way behind and need to upgrade.  hell my phone has 1GB of RAM.

windows 8 is great but I'm still getting used to it on my separate laptop.  it's very nice so far though.

It's called Linux
How would Linux be with Blockland, Browsing on the Internet, MapleStory, Games, etc. basically what you do with Windows?

Using wine Linux runs blockland faster then windows 8 does

So if you use a crossover software, Linux would be faster than Windows.

Yes

But wait. Why would you install Linux if you need compatibility software to barely be able to run Windows programs? Yet the main complaint about Windows 8 is it's slight lack of compatibility?

It doesn't "slightly" run faster. And it's only one program that's very easy to install. But for compatibility on windows 8 its a pain in the ass to get stuff to work

unless you're a hardcore techie you shouldn't be running linux.  it's not like you set up linux distros as easily as you set up windows installations.

Yeah it's not like you can set up Ubuntu through windows to run along side it without separating you hard driv- oh wait

I never said it slightly ran faster.

No one has complained about compatibility yet, so the argument about compatibility is invalid.

All windows 8 did was make stuff a little faster and make a clusterforget UI.

Call me when they release a REAL update.
^ ridiculously misinformed

Its no real upgrade.

Stick with 7

yeah sure if you want to be a stuffchucking ape and reboot every time you want to switch.

I did the same thing for windows xp and windows 7 for old games that i wanted to play without problems.  it's not worth the time, you're better off using VirtualBox.
