Author Topic: I can't understand why my parents interfere with my life way too often.  (Read 3813 times)

It's because they love you.
As cliché and stupid as it sounds, it's true. They're just trying to make sure you grow up to be the best person you could be by trying to influence you well.
In my opinion, their methods probably aren't the best because they're simply holding on too tight. You're like sand in their hands: If they hold on you fall through their fingers or blow away in the wind. They're obviously very afraid of that so they hold on tighter, forcing you to slip through anyway. Your parents need to find balance between that so everyone is happy.
I'm no parent, but that's how I'd try to do it. Mix entertainment with responsibility so that one doesn't smother the other.
As far as making your parents become a little more relaxed, I don't know how to help you.
has the opposite effect
them doing it makes the children want to do the stuff even more, and will find ways around it, and lie to them, and generally be dishonest about all sorts of stuff just bc they don't want their parents to know
moderately loose parenting, imo, is much more effective
I am kind of paranoid that any site can just slap on a cookie and find out where I'm going, ahem facebook.
they can

0/10 because my life is a loving mess.

this stuffty ass laptop cant do stuff

Watch out guys, this guy is a 0/10 on the happy scale.

Ummm.... wrong topic.

So, I take it that they're extremely devoted to their religion?
My parents are, yet they are okay with me and all my siblings using the computer all day. It's probably something to do with my dad being a computer engineer.

My parents are so paranoid that they have this program that monitors my Internet activity and sends them and email if I visit a website with swears/research/gore. I just use chrome and it doesn't send anything.

They are paranoid about my Internet browsing but not about my game playing. They don't care about how many games I have, what I play or who I play with.

When I was around 10 I felt dirty for downloading xfire without permission haha.

My parents are the same, except that they're a little nicer in a way. My mom is 48 and my dad is 54.

"they're all child enthusiasts!!11" - Pablo's mom
Yet ironiclly your ingame avatar is a creep-bear in a sweatervest.

My parents are kind of like this too, we're allowed to talk to people on this internet though lol.

My parents don't care what I do as long as I don't cause problems for them or myself.

However while I was at boarding school, it was very strict but that's because they had guidelines to follow.

Let's get the facts down
I don't drink
I don't smoke
I don't smuggle things from stores
I don't steal things from family
I don't go behind peoples backs
I never disrespect my elders
I never got arrested
I never have done anything illegal (Of course it sums over half of this up)
I never done any hurtful pranks/violation to anyone
I never got into a real fight

I feel like they should be proud of me.

And you have every right to think that, Present your parents with an essay or paragraph or two (I know, it sounds lame) explaining how well behaved you are compared to most modern kids, because quite frankly, I think you can put up with the cursing and things like that on here because it doesn't affect you as much as them.

Spend less time on your computer then. If they recognize how little you're actually on it, BING BANG BOP.

I think this would be counter intuitive. They'd know you're just saying those things to get back on your computer and they may not necessarily be true.

Discipline from parents is an act of kindness, It means they really do care about you and want you to become a happy and respectful person, When they tell you these things it's because they really care about your wellbeing, Don't consider it so much as a punishment rather consider it a gift and if you can thank them for it, It may seem horrible at first however later on you will learn they did these things to really help you.
Yeah except it's kinda like Riddler where he did horrible things in WWII, but he thought what he was doing was good for the country he loved.

May as well give it a shot.
