your power supply only offers 220w
the video card you are looking at requires 400w
not to mention the rest of the parts will need a little bit.

the computer is not meant to be upgraded. even the mobo is like micro sized and to put in a better one of that size would require a bigger case still.

so that whole plan requires to rebuild the entire thing, putting you in a situation to just build fresh anyway
Nvm, I'l just spend my saved 200 euro on games.
What a disappointment.

i still dont understand how a 750ti or maybe his 650 there both require 300 or 400w of power.
they DONT HAVE power plugs to use those gpu 6 or 8pins power plugs.
they only use the maximum 75w off the x16 lane itself.

so that means they are lieing and cant possibly require more then 75w.

It's supposed to be the ideal wattage for an entire system around the same level and not just for the card.

There's a considerable distance between my router and where my computer will be, I really don't have another option unless I run a very long cable across the house

I don't get why it's such a problem for everyone I talk to, do Americans not have carpets or something? There's at least 60m of cable between my PC and the router and it only took about an hour to route it through the house.

So, should I switch from a GTX 770 to a 970? Are there going to be any issues with it being a new architecture and everything, and is it just as or more powerful?

its not a big difference.
like evga has a superclocked 970 but i might wait few months for another custom like if they did classified or ftw stuff again.

its better to own dual 970s than a single 980. like it always was in series'.
the price difference covers that well.
the 900 series uses a hell of a lot less power, so are better for overclocking. so if you arent overclocking then you dont need to upgrade yet

Probably should have specified that I don't own the 770. I'm doing a build that would have incorporated one for $330, but its superclocked.

So, for that like $20 price difference, should I go towards the new architecture or just stick with the 770?

Would the GTX 970 work on a H61M-VS with a 500W PSU? I personally don't see why it wouldn't but either way.

I think I might just switch over, obviously not buying it today or anything, but it seems like a better card in almost every way compared to the one I was going to get. And to top it off it's like a $10 price difference and the card is a full 1" shorter.

Pretty much feels too good to be true.

Wait, so have you purchased a 770 yet or haven't you?

If you have already purchased a 770: do not buy a 970 to replace it
If you haven't purchased a 770 yet: buy the 970 instead

I have not purchased anything. :)

I'll ask again, should I expect a rough few months with a 970 due to it being a new card and all? Never had a card that is less than a year old.

Get the 970. If not just for the more modern driver supportlol

Well, minus my monitor and keyboard all of my components are here, and it also turns out that the ancient monitor and keyboard I have from the dead family desktop are compatible with my motherboard after all, I still need to get an OS and a long ethernet cable tomorrow but I think I'll get the hard part out of the way and start building

Wish me luck I guess, this Tech Report building guide makes it seem easy enough

The thought honestly hadn't crossed my mind, I was only envisioning a cable stretching across the house

No. They're literally available today

My AMD 970 JAUD1 front audio panel doesn't match my front panel cords. The reason being that the cords were originally intended for an Intel mobo. Can I still connect all these cords or do I have to purchase new ones?

Well that was quite an experience, kinda fun and I learned plenty

Everything's all hooked up but I decided I'm going to wait for my monitor to arrive before I test it out

Around February, my PC started freezing, so I contacted the company I got my PC from and after a while sent me a PSU replacement (around april/may or something) which solved it until recently where it started freezing again, but my screen forgeted up when it happened and it displayed a set of stripes. So, I asked for an upgrade (£55 to upgrade it, £10 to ship the old one back) and after 5 days its freezing again. I sent another email to the company, but I'm really pissed off at this being a constant issue. Is it just a coincidence that my PC keeps freezing due to the PSU, or is something else causing it?
