I turned Vsync off and it was the same. I was just wondering if maybe my GPU was performing poorly or if there is a defect.

Then again he might be BSing since he just got his new computer yesterday and might just want to brag about it.
Wait, have you seen him use it with an fps counter?

Don't give a stuff about it, a constant 60fps is just fine.

I got a touchscreen fan control unit for free

What am I supposed to use to attach the thermal sensors to things?
I saw tape on some answers but like im putting it right by my cpu so its going to be hot as forget and I think it would be pretty stupid to melt tape onto my mobo.

tbh idk where you could even put those near large processor chips like your CPU and GPU without tape getting melted and things like that, you're better off just getting a thermal reader that reads directly from your CPU/GPU's onboard thermal sensors which would be loads more accurate anyway.

those thermal sensors for those fans are meant to be placed anywhere else really unless there's some way to put them on your CPU/GPU and get an accurate reading.

No he just told me on skype so I don't know if he's lying or not.

Then I would not take his word. He might be running at a lower resolution, like someone said earlier, or running lower settings.

okay guys I need help
the power flickered a few hours ago and it cut off my computer
I cut it back on and everything started to run extremely slow. Anyone know why? I shut it down and let it sit for an hour or so and cut it back on, and still, the same thing happens. It takes literally like 5 minutes to load a single webpage, and steam refuses to start. It just stays at the log in screen... I'm confused on why it's this slow :u
So, I still have no idea how to fix this. Googled it tons of times and I keep getting the same thing: "check your drivers! check your ram!!" I have done both. Drivers are good, RAM is fine. It's not "fried" or anything, lol. I've no idea what to do next. Is it a hardware issue? If so, how do I know what piece of hardware it is that needs to be replaced?

So i re-applied my thermal paste and changed my voltage so i get 1.052  at 100% load at 4.2 ghz. As it turns out, my overclock yesterday was not as stable as i thought and by changing the voltage it made it work better. I heard that anything under 1.2-1.3 on an i5 3570k is safe so at the moment, i think my overclock is in the safe zone. Hell, when i ran stock, voltage got to 1.048. Can someone confirm if the voltage is safe as a second opinion. I asked this question yesterday, but that was with a different voltage.

Processors aren't just going to quit like that.
Just yesterday I tried mine at 1.2 and it worked.

So i still have a ton of room to overclock (considering my temps stay down), right?

Voltage should be of little concern at that point. There should not be any large risk of the processor frying because of undervoltage if you've increased it from an already stable amount.
If you were stable 4.2 @ 1.03, you're stable for a lot more if you increase it to 1.05.
But there isn't harm done in overvolting besides heat if you feel like it might fry.

My max at 100% load is 70 degrees (averages at around 66-68 on all 4 cores) with an ambient of 30 (85 Fahrenheit). I believe that it's still on the safe side as somone said a few pages back.

no no jacksaunt, voltage is still important

sandy bridge OC =/= ivy bridge OC

Have you already defragmented? Have you tried cleaning your registry? Run CCleaner?

I am planning on OCing my i5 3570k but right now I only have the stock cpu cooler. Whats a good cpu cooler and how much should I OC my CPU to?
