Author Topic: [MEGATHREAD] Personal Computer - Updated builds thanks to Logical Increments  (Read 1580666 times)

I am going to be building a new PC (my laptop is dieing). I need it to be powerful because I plan to use it for 3D image/animation rendering, and of course gaming. Also I have little experience building computers. :P

(I don't have a price point set in stone yet, but I would like to keep most of the individual components below $200)

Anyway, is this a reasonable graphics card?
Nice link you got there.

Woops I am silly. Fixed and thankyou for pointing that out.

I redid some of the cabling to make it look a tad bit better, nothing i could really do about the gpu sag..

If you're doing heavy enough rendering, a 650 ti isn't really the best choice. Don't restrict yourself to under $200 for all the components, spend on the gpu and then just spend enough on everything else to not bottleneck

@blackmod thank you for holding your camera reasonably still :)

Is GPU sag something to worry about? right now I have a case where my GPU is upright but I'm switching cases in a bit to one where everything is vertical

Not really worth worrying about, you can always adjust the power cables to give a little bit of support to the card.

Spend a little more, get this. Will be a lot better than the 650 ti. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130938
OR spend a bit more and get the 4GB version. Which is good for gaming on multiple screens and any VRAM intensive games.

>tfw you bought the gpu and the game that comes with it you have no interest in, and no one wants it

lol, I had that happen. My GTX 670 FTW+ 4GB came with Metro Last Light which I did not want.

I'll take it

So I might build my friend a $800 gaming computer and this is what I got for him (he doesn't overclock or know about advanced things like that so no need for spending more money on K version of CPU).

What do you guys think? I went a little over $800 but he said not a big deal.

i don't know why anyone would need over 1 TB unless you're some huge video editor

It's for backups and any extra storage needed.

Looks to me like you forgot one very important part. Can you spot which one it is?

Another hard drive?
I think I nailed it.
