Check for crimps or kinks in the cord. Ensure there's no dirt between the clicking mechanism and the plastic. Are the connectors clean?I need disambiguation, does the four-pin connector have two yellow cords and two black cords, or a yellow, red, orange, and black cord?

The 4 Pin has, 2 yellow, 2 black
And then theres the 20 pin cord

ensure the 4 empty connectors from the 20-pin to the 24-pin connector are at the top of the connector
it's not recommended to run a 24-pin board with a 20-pin connector but you can
the 4-pin goes into the 4-pin atx connector, which is separate from the 24-pin connector

alright sounds good, thank you!

And I was thinking of getting this as a replacement motherboard.

Can't find any problems with it.

Also, this may seem like a stupid question, but will I have to re-install windows if I get a new motherboard?

you may have to re-activate, but i don't think you have to reinstall.

what do you mean by reactivate?

I think it might be hard if you have the OEM version, I've heard that it binds itself to the motherboard.

I've also heard that you can replace the mobo with one of the same brand and it doesn't matter, but I don't know how true that is.

I've even heard that there is a way to work around it and reactivate. I'm really not sure as to what is true and what is misinformation, but you should Google around a bit.

Based on what I read when I was looking around before deciding on Win8 or Win7 OEM it has to be the exact same model of motherboard

you have a six-pin PCIe connector in an eight-pin socket
your power supply will not work for that card without the proper connector, or an adapter.

Wait what? The socket looks like it has 6 pins

Actually, I think it does work.  My PSU does two extra pins to the side (branching from the 6 pins) on each PCIe power cable.

He was probably confused by the space in-between the two connectors, every card I've seen that needs two connectors has them right next to each-other.

On a related subject, I need a bit of help.
My new graphics card has scrolling horizontal bar shadow issues, I've ruled out it being a problem with the card since it only happens in certain applications, it's perfectly fine in most and there's no troubles when I'm just looking at my desktop, browsing the internet or watching videos so I just need some more help figuring out if its the cable from my monitor, the VGA-DVI adapter or the drivers for the HD 7870.

Anyone have any personal experience with such a problem and managed to fix it?

Oh my god! 1TB of storage for as much as a low end prebuilt or mid range custom computer costs!

I found this while looking through cheeseburger, it's stupid but I kinda laughed.

Optical drives are so ugly, anyone else here joined the camp of people just not buying those things anymore? Get an external one and keep your case looking clean, its dead media.

Yeah, for my new build I'm going to install windows off of a flashdrive.

If you can't figure this out soon, I would say head on over to /r/buildapc on reddit. That's where I went when something wasn't
