Optical drives are so ugly, anyone else here joined the camp of people just not buying those things anymore? Get an external one and keep your case looking clean, its dead media.
I got one since it only cost me around $20, it's pretty basic though, I've only used it for drivers so far.

Yeah, I've got a SATA/IDE to USB cable so I could easily just plug in an internal one too.

Some of the Blu-Ray ones look alright, but still, meh.

Yeah, for my new build I'm going to install windows off of a flashdrive.

I installed 7 using an internal hard drive that I plugged in with a converter mentioned above.

Was so fast, never again using disc. xD

Also with my GPU it seems to be getting power, the fans on it spin when I start up the counter. Is there any other cord I'm support to connect to the motherboard from the GPU?

it should be as simple as:
>insert GPU firmly into the motherboard's PCI-E slot
>plug the PCI-E connector(s) from power supply to your videocard
>plug in dvi or vga connector from your monitor into the back of your videocard

>boot up and install latest drivers

also the FX-8150 with a water cooling set went from 250$ to 180$

is it worth an upgrade from a phenom II x3 because I'm definitely considering

I did all of that, still doesn't work. But now I have another problem. I disabled my integrated graphics in the bios and now nothing shows up on the screen. How do I re-enable them?

Get rid of that phenom, you must do it now

I thought phenoms were good

I bought a SATA DVDRW drive just because I still have 1-3 games lying around that make use of it.  I don't really mind it.  It's with any laptop that is smaller than 15" that I don't see a use for.

This is a other thing I love about apple. Their hardware/software looks slick and nice.

Yeah my optical drive doesn't even fit in my case. It's a bit too big so it can't poke through and thusly its a bit pushed back. really ugly and it gives a pathway for dust. :(
will probably cover it until i actually use it

mac pros are being discontinued
also the most expensive model has a 5770, pretty sad

I have it in my spare computer, really good for the price.

CES has really had some cool stuff. Asus is coming out with a gpu with an all-in-one radiator, which I've wanted for quite some time.
