I have this friend upgrading a computer of his from a 6770 and a i5 to a 7970 and an i7, and he's selling me the 6770 and the i5 for like $150. Should I get a 400w PSU or 500w?

I'd go for a 600w+ if you can make it there, PSU's are one of the few things that I will overcompensate on since with a PSU it's always better to be safe than sorry, plus it'd give you some headroom for upgrades in the future

Anyone?

I don't know how Micro ATX's function, so forgive me if I'm ignorant, but I'd suggest a Phenom II x4 965 BE instead, if you can fit a low-profile aftermarket cooler then you might want to look into one of them as well, Phenom II's run rather hot from my experience.

Edit; Whoops, sorry for the double post, I forgot I had posted just a minute ago.
Yeah, my memory is pretty damn bad

How's this?

Corsair always deliver quality parts, I'm actually going with a Corsair PSU when I replace my current one.
I just want to tell you to watch some video reviews, make sure the cables included with the PSU are long enough to be routed around your case, I bought my current PSU when I was using a tiny-ass DELL case but in my new case the CPU power cable is too short to be routed around the back of the motherboard tray and has to go over my graphics card and around my CPU cooler and it looks like stuff.

Also make sure that the cable selection is satisfactory for your needs, nothing worse than getting a new PSU and finding out it doesn't have enough SATA cables or something.

Edit; If you can stretch an extra bit then I'd highly advise getting a modular PSU such as this one;

It will help you keep your case tidy and will improve airflow since you'll have fewer cables you're not using lying all over the place

Update flash maybe? Use a different browser?

Uhm guys. I've got a small problem.

I lose my internet connection every time my computer wakes from hibernation, and I think also 1 every 6-7 times after a complete reboot. I'm connected through an ethernet cable. I have to reboot the computer to get my internet back. It's quite annoying.

How to fix?

Relevant info: OS: Win8 64-bit, MOBO: Asus P8Z77 V Pro
Update your network drivers maybe?

I actually just won a 600T White Edition from Overclock.net, I got no hardware to fill it though xD Will be getting some parts on my birthday, Feb. 10th

You lucky son of a bitch! I'd love to get my hands on one of those...

Just out of curiosity, what do you like about the cases?

Imo, one of the best cases you can get if you want mini-itx on an ATX-competitive level. I find the Prodigy case so cute looking since its kinda in the smaller, mid-tower class but its fatter so it can have a mobo laying down instead of mounted vertically. And its got a cool mesh look to the front if you get the black one.

Even now I still enjoy just looking at the case. Understated smexyness. I find it really important to have a case you love when building a computer.

I love my 410 but what I really like about the Prodigy is that it's a powerhouse. It's like a teeny tiny little colourful machine that doesn't look like much but it can do a stuffload. Plus the case design reminds me of the Mac Pro if they shrunk it down and made it more awesome.

My brother let me use his monolithic 1920x1200 DVI monitor to see if it's an issue with the VGA to DVI adapter block that was causing the flicker and now he's letting me borrow it until he wants it back because it's fixing it.
This resolution is absolutely intoxicating, I doubt I'll ever be able to go back to 1600x900 after a month or so of using it.

Glad I solved the problem without needing to RMA, though, happy happy soul

Update your network drivers maybe?

I've done that :/ It's guess I can live with this problem, but it's certainly annoying.

Howdy fella's! Would you mind helpin me w/ something-

Some time ago (I keep thinking 2003/2004), me and my dad built our own custom computer. I'm not sure what he was thinking, but we built it mainly for the Microsoft Flight Sim. series (thusly, it had to be a big comp). We got it to run, and in those days getting MFS to run above 30 fps was something.

So time went on and my father got tire of MFS, and went on to those tiny remote control helicopters, and switched out this old clunker (I believe the hard drive has been fragmented/corrupted so long that it seeped into the mobo) for a model for simple and faster internet browsing. He gave the old model to me since I didn't have one, and to play my own games on.

Unfortunately, another reason he gave it to me was because the processor had a maximum 2GB memory, so we could never upgrade beyond Microsoft XP SP3 (I can't tell if that's a bad thing or not). I've been putting up with it for a long time, but I've gotta upgrade at some point.

What I want to do: rebuild the computer tower. I don't want to replace it since it's something me and my father built together and spent a lot of time on. But I want to replace/upgrade all the internal components. I can't seem to find the name or type of the tower, but I do have its external measurements (American) and mobo type for its measurements:

16 7/8 in. tall
18 5/8 in. long (front to back)
7 3/4 in. wide

MSI MS-7211

Sorry for the long explanation, but I hope ya'll can help me. Thank you!

It's a Mid-Tower ATX case, I can tell from the dimensions.
You can't really salvage a lot, considering it's DDR and has an AGP slot. Most you might get from it is the hard drive, which can be formatted. You might be able to sell these things to people who build old computers, though.
An entire rebuild using the previous case is what you're looking at, correct? Any budget specifically?

Can you post a picture of the tower?

I keep a clean workspace  :cookieMonster:

Yup, I'm pretty cheap, but it'll be mostly for gaming, so I'm not looking for something that'll run at least a AA (not AAA) game.
