No. We live in a 50 year old house, and I do not trust the power grid. Please quit telling me what I "don't need".
Many surge protectors will do this:
  • Suppress a voltage surge up to a certain point otherwise fail and need replacing
  • Shut off if voltage drops too low (about 85-90V)
  • Indicate a functional grounding conductor

I'm not exactly sure what you're afraid of.

Intel is garbage
Are you handicapped the high end intel processors outperform amd by far

Military quality doesn't mean it'll survive a surge. If you want to protect it from stuffty electricity buy a good surge protector or even better a UPS. That whole "military quality" is just a marketing gimmick for the most part.
This, just use a surge protector.

Turns out only the intel versions of the laptop have a touch screen. But anyway

I  just got this: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX46819

Was it worth it?

Ok, so I'm here again, asking about a graphics card. This time, however, I am ready to order.

Is this a piece of crap, or is it a good buy?

and they have a government kill switch. I see no point of intel but being overpriced trash. It's all opinions though, so. http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-3570K-vs-AMD-FX-8350 sorry for stuff site, but muh 2fps!!!!!111

Ok. I think I'll get it.

Its just because I'm not used to windows 8 and having touch screen gestures makes it much easier. Also why are aspires bad?

Acer isnt that great of a brand in my opinion.

Don't come and ask for suggestions or information if you think you know everything, that's ignorant that you're being this stubborn.

If that motherboard takes a surge whether or whether not it is 'military grade' it's going to fry, get over it.

They for this exact purpose invented this brilliant thing called a surge protector, cheaper and literally built for what you're asking for.

Stop being stubborn with your opinion because you think you're right, either buy the motherboard and realize you made a bad choice, or listen to us.

I know I said the budget was set but due to my dad constantly borrowing money I was able to have my budget brought up because he insist on paying me back somehow.

You're handicapped. First of all, what the forget are you talking about when you say government kill switch. I'd really like to see some evidence that proves that even if there were one, why it should make any difference whatsoever. Secondly, cpu and gpu boss are terrible websites. They compare on-paper specs and do a single cinebench test and then average everything and call it a definitive result. Thirdly, what you're comparing there is an 8-core AMD cpu to a 4-core Intel cpu with no hyperthreading. If you have use for an 8-core cpu you literally cannot beat the 8350 for value, and I would recommend it as such. Look at the single core performance of the two cpu's on that site. Intel wins 9.5 to 8.2, while in the multithreaded test AMD only beats Intel by 0.2 relative score even though it has twice the number of effective cores than the Intel. A large percentage of everyday programs are single-threaded, a large number of games included. Fourth and finally, anyone who completely denounces either brand as trash is instantly an idiot. Both brands have their unique disadvantages and advantages, and anybody who doesn't bother to look up the facts first and merely relies on handicapped brand loyalty can instantly be disregarded. The exact same thing can be said for people who trash nvidia over amd gpus or vice-versa.

Learn your stuff, stop being an ignorant asswipe

-snip-

take a chill bro, I'm fairly sure Nal was being at least 50% sarcastic, and you and me both know there will always be Nvidia/Intel fanboys and AMD fanboys.

I do personally prefer AMD because they don't use hyperthreading, I hate the virtual cores idea, it's not favorable imo.

I don't know why but I just prefer AMD over Intel, I always heard that it was better and from my experience they are a bit better.

i prefer intel, has some good stuff and a bit better performance, especially in gaming as most games don't yet fully utilize the amount of cores the fx-8000 series has
