what processor do you have

the translucent white covering is silly, they should've stuck with black but it's all aesthetics and it's not like people stare into a case all day anyway.
Just tape a benchmark printout to the side of the shroud. That will shut everyone up

For my HTPC, should I get a GT210, HD5450 or HD6450? (Prices are like £18, £20, £26)

much difference between 512mb and 1gb? I plan on using it on a 50" TV if that effects anything lol

512mb. :cookieMonster:
but really, you don't even need the 1gb verson for media streaming. I dunno why a low end card has that version. It's like a buck more due to a sale I believe, so get it if you want. It's a good deal I guess.

newegg doesn't sell laptop parts afaik

Yeah, I never even went in the laptop CPU category. It has like four old processors and one new i7.

Ok so I was going to fork out about a $900-1100 build but then thought I'm not really a gamer so there's no point paying hungies extra for stuff I wont use so I looked around a bit and got this http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2GwHe
What do you guys think? Mostly a general use PC that can also play some games, but I'm not looking for BF4 HDx20 or anything like that, just want to be able to play on at least alright graphics with little frame rate problemos.
Also not sure about OS to use so input on that would be appreciated.
If you think you can up it feel free to, I know two fifths of bugger all about this kinda stuff so I'll be taking your word on it.
Lets say my budget is about $650-700, give or take a little, prefs including an OS.
The monitor isn't that important either, I'll probably just find one in store here rather than order it.
The Hitachi Ultrastar doesn't even have a price/retailer...
Also, not sure what the deal is with that wifi adaptor
That's one hell of a price jump, and I don't think that TD even ships to Aus, so...
The more I look into this the more trouble it's becoming ;-;

My current toshiba laptop is so far beyond the point of broken that a 2mb usb taped to a case would still be an improvement.

Ok so Newegg doesn't even ship internationally either, forget my life.
Guess I'll just ask around my computery friends to help find stuff I can actually buy ffs.

there are some stores like techbuy.com.au that sell parts
its a bit overpriced and you'll probably spend like 750 for just that build

remember to overclock your keyboard, buy a water cooler too so the temps were low

thats ugly imo.
The glow shows up a lot more in the photo than in real life. the lights are of a good brightness and the keys feel great. Macro settings are fantastic for a load of tasks and the game switch is genius

still in need of a graphics card for my new build, thinking either 780 or r9 290.

OCUK's january sale has http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-239-MS and ebuyer has http://www.ebuyer.com/583808-asus-r9-290-4gb-gddr5-dual-dvi-hdmi-displayport-pci-e-graphics-card-r9290-4gd5

Should I get either one of them or should I wait for a better price drop? I don't mind waiting until like summer (exams and such soon so I won't be gaming much till after anyway)

r9 290 is superior to the gtx 780. and way cheaper

r9 290 is superior to the gtx 780. and way cheaper
yeah I'm leaning more to the 290, but still keeping tabs on 780 in case I can get one cheaper lol.

is the MSI R9 290 one good? I couldn't find any reviews for it

Get one that doesn't have a reference cooler. The best one on the market afaik is the sapphire card with the triple-fan open air cooler
