I need help with my fans. Because I got a cheapo motherboard, it has a 4 pin PMW for the CPU fan and a 3 pin for the case fan. I got a splitter for the 3 pin so I have two fans running on it, but the problem is, I think that both are running at full RPMs. I want to slow down the case fans, it's like sitting next to a jet. I cannot for the life of my me figure out how to use speedfan, and I have all my bios settings optimized for quietness.

What should I do?

And yes, I have an extra, useless splitter connected to the molex that I just haven't bothered to remove yet.

This is kinda out-of-hand advice, as I think you are looking to do this from the computer, but you could buy a fan controlling bay. Been thinking about getting one myself. Would also make some use for the miserable excuse for extra optical disk bay space I don't use.

I considered it, but I'd prefer to not spend money. I figured out how to change the CPU fan speed. Basically what I need now is to figure out how to change the voltage a fan is getting. Is the only way to do this through a fan controller?

If you're up for bootlegging, you could always use potentiometers.

actually, I found this

I tested it with a spare fan, and it works, so I'm considering just doing this. I already have a molex running down to where I'd need to connect it anyway.

EDIT: I did it, and now it runs really quietly! I'm considering trying to do the same thing to my rear fan, which is now the loudest in my computer.

H440 WHICH COLOR SHOULD I GEEEET

they both look very nice

Black and red

less of an eyesore

White. Black on red contrast is bleh.

I was leaning toward black & red, but since that case was just recently released, it is in very high demand. the black and red one was out of stock and I'd have to wait 1 or 2 months for it to ship. however, ncix.com still has some white ones in stock which are ready to ship so I'll just go ahead and buy it

Built a computer for my work yesterday, I think I did a really neat job cabling it

Was not impressed with the quality of the case or the psu (both rosewill), several of the mounting holes for the motherboard standoffs stripped when I tried to install the mobo, and only two of the psi mounting screwholes were usable. Even though the psu is top mounted and non-modular, I feel like it's pretty neat

Build specs for anyone who cares:
i7-4770k
Asus z87 expert mobo
450w psu
256gb Samsung ssd

I would have to ask someone for the order form to figure out what the parts actually are

why did you get z87 and the K version of the i7 if you won't overclock? I would've gotten just a cheaper B85 or H87 board and a Xeon, would've turned out cheaper, would've put the money toward something else like a bigger SSD or whatever the office would benefit from

Nice. I took a few pics of my case interior yesterday when I was finishing up my cable management for my fans. Here's a pic.

What do you guys think? This is also with zero space between the mobo tray and the outer panel.

let me guess your specs
7770, fx-4300, source 210, cx430, some msi motherboard
