Wizards of Computer Matinence, I call upon you.

I just installed a Corsair Hydro H90 after replacing my stock cooler. After putting everything back together, it's failing the POST test, with 3 short beeps and 4 long beeps. I can't find out what it means anywhere. Can someone help me out on this, please?

Well, at least my PC is nice and quiet now...

how many watts do you think i need for this?

You could easily do 400, but that leaves no room for upgrades now does it? Personally I'd do a 500 or even a 550. Just with the future in mind.

But yeah 400 would be fine

what could I use for an OS? budget is 500 dollars.

you could go with a linux distribution like ubuntu or wait for windows 10
which im pretty sure is gonna be free
win8/8.1 is 100 bucks

yeah, budget is 500, not 550. i'm not really sure how linux works, but it plays most of the games i play, so.

(sorry for double post)

i have been told by a few people to not get the corsair cx series. what do you suggest?

SeaSonic and XFX PSUs are good, however they are a bit more expensive.

I swear it's probably 8.1 that's loving up my microphone most of the time because I still get told there's no mic being used.

$500~ budget build?

ew no

go intel with an LGA 1150 processor socket. Much better upgradablity.

"ew no"? how dismissive is that? the guy is clearly on a budget, so you go with a cheaper amd cpu and a more expensive gpu. all the parts i have listed are some good brands. sure you are not able upgrade easily, but you got to do what you do to get the lower prices. all you have to do is compensate for an optical drive, which you can easily obtain from an old system.

Nah, the CPU is better than the i3 in a way. It is 3.8ghz instead of 3.4 and it is still quad core. It is also cheaper.

Not that I perfer AMD over Intel, its just in this way.
