So a motherboard for a build I was doing went out of stock, anyone have a good one for an AMD FX-6300? Anything around $100 is okay.

Most gaming laptops fallible today do infact let you swap out the graphics card with a standard type of PCI-E.

Like which ones? I don't know of any laptops that let you change the anything besides the ram and hdd's.

IIRC, msi IS making a laptop that allows you to upgrade the video card too, along with making it easy to change the ram and storage.

They're making a laptop that lets  you use a docking station to use a discrete GPU. Other companies are working on making a box you can hook up with thunderbolt and it lets you use another gpu which is pretty cool.

some company called clevo or sagar or something?

You can't change out the parts on either of those. They just have a ton of models you can order with a lot of options.

Couldn't say, but if you can find a powerful gaming laptop or workstation (which almost always) then there's a good chance it uses MXM rather than just being soldered to the board.
This is a GTX 660M for example.

and here's an image of a laptop that has the MXM card easily accessible.

though the companies will probably try to hide it so that you buy their next laptop instead of just upgrading your current one.

That is the most beautiful laptop internal design I've ever seen.

Can you buy a mobile GPU without it being torn out of another laptop?

I thought it was pretty great too.

I'm sure so, it's not something I've ever researched though. I know you can get them off eBay "new", but I'd find a reputable source.
I'd be sure to triple check that I do indeed have an MXM, and that it's my GPU before I even thought of upgrading.
okay sorry my Ativan is kicking me hard and i'm not sure if any of this makes sense so I'm gonna sleep now.

no he's talking about this:

here's linus's review on it:

I made the dumb mistake of installing 32 bit Windows 8 when I got this PC and decided it's finally time to switch to 64 bit, how bad is this going to be? I've heard mention of an upgrade option on the installation disk that keeps everything intact

It's also the first laptop with a mechanical keyboard.

New build:
Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB
Anything that could be changed for a better price or better performance?
not sure if i'm spreading misinformation, but i've been told that seagate drives have high failure rates

so: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822236339

I've had a seagate hard drive for over 4 years and it's just now at it's peak of performance.

Also I'm going to switch to a 750 Ti because I heard r7's are not as reliable.
