So can you boot into the Windows disk with a hard drive plugged in?

Yes

so I was inspired by a post I saw on reddit about a guy taking an old laptop screen and turning it into an external monitor for his computer. I took apart an broken laptop we had laying around and got the screen out, now I just have to find the right controller board for it and I get tiny screen to put stuff on

pls excuse stuff cam quality..my stand isn't as cool as his but it's a wip

the parts came and it works great! now i just have to make a container or something to put the controller in as well as a place for the buttons

Have you tried repairing or restoring with the disk?

Repairing doesn't work, and I don't have any system restore points. The thing is this happens on ALL my hard drives no matter which one I try to boot. And they all work fine on other computers.

Best I can say is hardware damage.

My computer guy said all my parts are working fine when I took it in the other day (that was for a different issue though).

New graphics card;

780ti c:

might be upgrading from my old XFX 6870 to a R9 270X. Should be more than enough for my 1440x900 monitor and I don't think my i5-2500K will bottleneck it.

I need a case with plenty of room in the back. :(

I think the corsair 780T has that buts it's a mammoth case and costs a bit much
