Since when was RAM so cheap, guys?!

$45 for 8 gigs is like what you would have paid for 4 gigs several months ago.
Ddr4 is out mate, DDR3 is beginning to be on clearout.

Having 2 sticks of 8 gigs wouldn't help me if I don't use more than 8 gigs normally, right?

no
wait, yes? you're right. what I'm saying is, having more won't help you if you don't use more in the first place

Having more then enough ram will not speed up your computering.

But having to little will slow it down.

But since its impossible to gauge the average use of ram, nor should you want to max it out EVER.
You HAVE to have to much.

Honestly I think anything from 8 gigs to 16 gigs is fine, anything above that is optional.

But since its impossible to gauge the average use of ram
how do you suppose that?

PROBABLY going to be adding better RAM and a soundcard to my rig soon. Going from 8GB to 16GB.

having more then enough can speed it up depending on how you utalize it. If you have enough ram to completely eliminate your paging file then your performance will increase, and if you use a ram disk with any regularity you will notice a speed increase in the programs you ramdisk with.

Dont buy another 8, buy 16 (2x8gb) and use 24gigs

That's what I was planning on doing.

Oh jeez thats terrible people actually eat messy foods or chips while using their pc?

I never touch my keyboard or mouse unless my hands are washed, and when I eat its always with a fork.
i'm a piece of stuff who always eats at my computer. if it's soup/spaghetti/etc then i cover my keyboard with a napkin and i always make sure to thoroughly wipe my hands on a napkin before using my keyboard or mouse. we also rarely buy chips so

See I am just a nasty piece of stuff, I find the nasty-ness deters starfishs from using my computers.

should i get a R9 380 or a 960?

Aren't they really similar but the R9 gives some more frames?

should i get a R9 380 or a 960?
In that scenario I would pick the 960 in a 4gb variant. It is going to have more stable FPS in Dx11 games, takes less power, and runs a hell of alot cooler. I would go with Nvidia until you hit 970, 980; 390, 390x range. At that point the Dx12 performance of ATI is absolutely murderous on Nvidia.
