So I'm going to save up for my first build, how's this? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/s9zr99
It's OK, but could still be better:
* Change the motherboard to an ATX since they're more cost efficient. Mini-ITX is pointless unless you're going to get a small case as well.
* Change the CPU cooler to a Cryorig H7, it's only marginally more expensive than the 212 EVO but superior in every way.
* Get an SSD for the OS.
* The power supply is not very good, an EVGA Supernova P2 is only like $5 more after rebates and far better.
* Do you really need a blu-ray writer? If not then that's $55 less spent.

keep in mind you will have to get software to play blueray movies

Like 99% of the time some of said software will come free with the reader hardware.

It's usually something stuffty like Cyberlink PowerDVD, but it'll work.

It's never listed online. It's just bundled into the driver/software cd.

reviews on newegg say it comes with no software....

I've been wondering about this.
Is there any difference performance-wise to having an 8GB stick or two 4GB sticks (or 16 and 8 etc)? Just curious.

everyone i've seen says its not really worth it to do more than two or four sticks, but yes, having two 4gb sticks instead of one 8gb stick is better

was about to buy all this, but i figured i'd check here first to make sure everything's 👌
