should i get the rx480 (4gb) or the gtx1060?

the gtx 1060 is looking good tho

we don't even have benchmarks for the GTX 1060 yet...

the 1060 probably is a lot better than the 480 lol

tbh this

AMD still makes good products but even prior to me even building my first PC I already knew AMD lacked in alot of things Nvidia didn't. The 480 will still be a good card, but I'd take cooler temps with great performance over hotter temps with maybe-great performance any day.

hotter temperature =/= card damage/wear

videocardz leaked some iirc, and they are pretty reputable as putting out real information

hotter temperature =/= card damage/wear
am aware, never said either were connected.

I don't know why you would go with a stock cooler on either of the cards, that's just stupid. the temps are going to be low on both if you just buy any aftermarket card from MSI, Asus, Gigabyte, etc. AMD has nothing to do with it.

yeah, just like the GTX 960 was totally better than the R9 380!

oh wait...

well the 1060 is around 8-10 percent faster than the rx 480 so uh
okay lol

i mean the GTX 1060 is claming to have 980 performance by Nvidia, which means it would outperform the RX 480 which is comparable to a 970.

tbh i'd be pretty happy with an RX 480 if Nvidia do a paper launch once again for the 1060 -_-
either way i'd be happy if it can run atleast 2x msaa in gta and higher settings in doom

how is the 1060 supposed to compete with the 480 if it's $100 more? they're in different price brackets

IIRC the 480 is $200 and the 1060 (non-FE because who even needs that) is $250.  Relatively same bracket, plus given the fact that AMD caters to low-budget anyway.

If the 1060 truly offers 980 performance then I'd totally consider doing a buy-one-then-another-later down the road.

we don't know yet.

did I ever say that?

"claimed by Nvidia"

claims by both AMD and Nvidia are the last things I want to hear. wait for benchmarks

the 1060 has a MSRP of $250, the 8GB RX 480 has an MSRP of $240 I believe
