that's essentially it, yes. except exclusive to prime members
Don't know what to do with my old monitor though. Already have had it up on craigslist before with no results, I doubt anyone would want a 1600x900 monitor.

What do you guys do?

I'd take one for free or extremely cheap

For the record its this:

It's a cheap mic, what do to expect?
I'd guess the wire is wearing out somewhere. I've had that problem with cheap mics, after a year or so of use they wear out to the point where any fiddling with the cable (usually right at the jack) causes extreme static

recently my old laptop's hard drive died, and I'm trying to decide whether to replace the hard drive, or buy a new laptop
as much as I loved the thing, it's old and not very good. even if I replace the hard drive I imagine it'll only be a matter of time before some other component dies

I can handle finding replacement drives myself, but in case I decide to replace the whole laptop instead, can anyone point me towards some good choices?
I have a budget of about $500. I know that isn't much, but the computer I'm replacing isn't hard to beat. I've looked at a few options, but honestly I don't really know what companies to trust when it comes to laptops, which is what I'm primarily looking for help with
for more specific info I guess, I don't really care about games that much. I've got my desktop for that. it just needs to be a general purpose thing. outside of programming and web browsing, minecraft is probably the most demanding game I'd play on it, and my old laptop already did a nearly-acceptable job of that

also, I'd prefer windows 10. if it comes with anything else I will probably just replace it with linux, but I'll be happy either way

Same price as the Lenovo, but twice the RAM and an SSD instead of a slow-ass, fragile hard drive.

well its been said the 1060 is as good as a 980 but 249.99
gonna hope its right because i want it

EDIT: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2016/07/nvidia-gtx-1060-specs-price-release-date/

idk if this is right but if videocardz leaks are then rip

how does the other one I linked compare to that one?
I can clearly see that it doesn't have an SSD, in favor of a much larger hard drive. I could live with either one of those
also, the processor's clock speed seems slightly higher on this one, but the one you linked to seems to have a later model number, with skylake (as opposed to broadwell on the one I linked), but I'm honestly not sure what to make of that
kind of disappointing that they both have windows 10 home instead of pro

amd just cant compete. they come out with 1 card at a time and nvidia is always quick to release a better/cheaper model to counter it lol.

the 950pro is nice

though i cant feel the improvement over an 850evo for gaming. even though its quite a bit faster.

I looked at them a little more and decided on the HP
largely because of the keyboard and trackpad to be honest. but that's reasonable imo, I'd rather not be stuck with a laptop I didn't like using lol

This is some other person setup on steam (He has a steam level of 777) and it has some Alienware/prebuilt/Razer stuff I know. But it looks decent imo

he has a gif of it on his profile http://steamcommunity.com/id/JamesCrockett23

You dont buy alienware
its an unwritten rule

that is an area 51 i think

those are overpriced af

even for alienware

i know im super late but
