recently my old laptop's hard drive died, and I'm trying to decide whether to replace the hard drive, or buy a new laptop
as much as I loved the thing, it's old and not very good. even if I replace the hard drive I imagine it'll only be a matter of time before some other component dies
I can handle finding replacement drives myself, but in case I decide to replace the whole laptop instead, can anyone point me towards some good choices?
I have a budget of about $500. I know that isn't much, but
the computer I'm replacing isn't hard to beat. I've looked at
a few options, but honestly I don't really know what companies to trust when it comes to laptops, which is what I'm primarily looking for help with
for more specific info I guess, I don't really care about games that much. I've got my desktop for that. it just needs to be a general purpose thing. outside of programming and web browsing, minecraft is probably the most demanding game I'd play on it, and my old laptop already did a nearly-acceptable job of that
also, I'd prefer windows 10. if it comes with anything else I will probably just replace it with linux, but I'll be happy either way
