There isn't that much we can do that nobody on BL hasn't already done. Whatever we do has a good chance of having been done by someone else before.

If we wanted to try a novelty as best, I have a friend applying for the clan who has a fairly unique way of building things.

I've had a new-ish idea for a space station.

I would start by making a specific kind of module-lock, then everyone would have a part of the station to build, connected by these connector/lock affairs. Some parts would be repeated, like halls, living modules, laboratories, station utilities, etc; others would be few or singular, like lounges, hangar, docking port, etc.

How does this roll with the local masses?

The space station idea is cool, but the idea seems very similar to that of the HQ: users add their own pieces to a larger product. I think that it would be considerably more difficult to apply the same HQ idea to a space station and still have such continuity as the HQ does. In other words, it's a lot harder to make the station flow as a unit. It would look fragmented, as each member has a different building style. Just a consideration, although there aren't many other ways to go at a group project, you know?

Because of the inability to achieve total originality (nearly), I think we should disregard originality as a factor in considering our builds. We should just look into building something that we would rock the forget out of. Sure, people may have done something like a space station or City RP before, but if we really want to, I have no doubt that we would be able to make it our own and make it something incredible.

Then how about this:

A skyscraper; every member gets his/her own floor to put his/her own little thing, be it restaurant, apartments, a company HQ, their own giant penthouse, etc. 20 floors excluding lobby and utility, and we start with the building itself, along with the stairwells and elevators and stuff.

Fancy, I dig it. A skyscraper is a lot easier to make continuous and elegant even if different members have different styles.

Rem. i love that idea.  also who is your freind applying?

I started to make a skyskraper once i still have the save but i never finished it:c lol but yeah i dont mind a skyskraper, I mean the exterior of your average skyskraper is repetetive but i mean each member having there own floor changes things up for the interior.

And I kind of agree with leaving out originality when thinking of ideas, but recreating is definetly an option. I always thought it would be cool if we had a series of projects that consisted of recreating wonders of the real world.

I am currently working on a skyscraper that has 21 floors (including lobby and inside the pinnacle) if that's what you're looking for...

I have started preliminary work on a skyscraper template, an idea from the founder of the Oceanco clan, StarHawk, who is applying for AoB with a skyscraper.

If anyone in the clan has any objections, it would be much appreciated if you could prepare an alternative plan before stating your objection and plan; other objections will not be counted or considered.

The current plan for the building itself will feature:
  • Approximately 50/50 wall vs curtain wall exteriors.
  • Thirty floors above ground, two below ground.
  • A tetrahedral shape; the 50% of un-windowed walls will be vertical and gridlocked with the Blockland grid, enabling easy construction and modeling of interior spaces.
  • A basic greenland/mountain scenery surrounding the building.
  • An elevator/stairwell system leading between the floors and onto the roof of the building.
  • Some curtain walls will slope in places, but there will not be much size difference between the floors; the lower floors will be the largest.
  • A 3-floor lobby featuring the AoB logo, lounges and restaurants, commons, and a multi-story museum.
  • A cylindrical skylight adjacent to the elevator shafts extending all the way up to a skylight in the roof of the building.

The current floor-chart is as follows:
  • Floor 30 Partyroom/Penthouse area
  • Floor 29 Partyroom/Penthouse area
  • Floor 28 AoB member's office space
  • Floor 27 AoB (Artifact)
  • Floor 26 AoB member's office space
  • Floor 25 AoB (Trifax)
  • Floor 24 AoB member's office space
  • Floor 23 AoB member's office space
  • Floor 22 AoB member's office space
  • Floor 21 AoB member's office space
  • Floor 20 General Lease
  • Floor 19 General Lease
  • Floor 18 General Lease
  • Floor 17 General Lease (Windowless)
  • Floor 16 General Lease (Windowless)
  • Floor 15 General Lease (Windowless)
  • Floor 14 General Lease (Windowless)
  • Floor 13 General Lease
  • Floor 12 General Lease
  • Floor 11 General Lease
  • Floor 10 General Lease
  • Floor 9 General Lease
  • Floor 8 General Lease
  • Floor 7 General Lease
  • Floor 6 Unmarked
  • Floor 5 Unmarked
  • Floor 4 Unmarked
  • Floor 3 Lobby
  • Floor 2 Lobby
  • Floor 1 Lobby
  • Base Floor I Unmarked
  • Base Floor II Unmarked

I have two possible shapes for this tower; One tapers from the base up, and the other has a waist-middle; both have four floors of windowless space dividing the curtain walls into a lower and upper.

Any ideas for this are welcome. As stated above, overall objections should include an alternative plan.
A drawn sketch of the building will be posted shortly.

All AoB members who have submitted profiles will be displayed in the reserve section shortly. If you do not wish your profile to be included, please PM me.

You guys try to build as much of the detail as you can, but due to the fact that we are dealing with legos here, not making an EXACT replica of the drawing is ok

lol

Now back to the real, as a suggestion, I think the skyskraper should have a parking lot, either those two basement floors can be the parking lot or if we end up putting something maybe secret in the basement levels, we can have a small perhaps 4 story parking building off to the side of the skraper... just an idea though.

EDIT:

This is an example of a parking building, for those who might have been confused as to what I meant by that.

Now alot of parking buildings are more plain cement and blocky looking, which might contrast and emphasis the detail in the skyskraper. Any thoughts?

Don't you mean 'we' rather than 'you guys', since you're now a Recruit and all?

We might have some little venues, like a driving course and a tiny little cabin and/or fast food place or something you tend to see in the wide open western world, with a network of roadways.

I'd like to see how good our clanpeople are with parking in enclosed spaces before we try out a parking deck, though; it wouldn't do to have jeeps glitching up into the lobby or museum.

Another proposal: With these new bots, we can restore the General Jake statue, much bigger; that can go in front of the skyscraper.

We should at least have an underground parking garage just for the hell of it. I don't think it would be good to have a full parking building, because there's only a couple car models in Blockland, and the buidling will look kinda strange if it's absolutely empty. I say we put one underneath the 2 lowest floors, and have an entrance to the garage through the surrounding landscape. But the building should be priority, not the parking structure...so it's not a big deal.

Can I have floor 25? Because, you know, it's just a little better than 24 :)

Oh yea that reminds me floor 13 cant exist sorry:C IT DOESNT EXIST

Do what everyone else does and skip it...so it goes: 10, 11, 12, 14, 15...

Here are a few pictures of the current skyscraper.

It is early in construction, so if anyone has any suggestions, now would be a good time to voice them.
