Author Topic: Sony trying to ban used games.  (Read 5486 times)

They refuse to break away from the crowd logic that "SONY IS THE WORST COMPANY AND ALSO THE ANTICHRIST!"

I believe Sony might also be pressured by game developers and stuff who would share possible commercial revenue if they actually did implement it.

I don't hate Sony, I just don't agree with some things they do.

Sony is pretty stuffty, They sign most of today's stuffty artists, like Justin Beiber and One Direction and whatnot. They were a driving force behind SOPA and the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and now they're trying to tamper with the market again so that they don't have to actually work to get their customers.

well how is selling used games any different then piracy? the publishers dont make a cent off of a gamestore's reselling.
the gaming industry loses more money on reselling console games then it does from legit piracy.

They've been not so good in the last couple years, so what? They developed CD format among other good electronics.

Couple that with the fact that Sony has been losing quite a bit of income over the last few years, and bam. No wonder they would be interested in this technology. This does not mean they will heavily implement it. Also, this would affect next-gen consoles, not the PS3 as of right now.

Think about it this way: Used games are cheap. Obviously if you're buying a used game you're doing so because it's cheap. Now if you couldn't buy this game for a cheaper price, would you buy it at all?

I feel that by buying a disk I'm buying the game, not a license to it. And it should stay that way.

Yes.

No.

I do miss the days of the cd. If your account gets hacked and the hacker does something to get it banned you get it recovered valve will just say "Nope, sorry we can't unban you because of our policy, go make a new account and buy every all over again."

No thanks to the no backward compatability feature, I'd already have to rebuy all my ps1 games as is. I refuse to do this so Sony can suck a fat richard because I won't pay money for a licence I already legaly purchased 15 years ago. My laptop can play them just fine so I no longer have a need for a stuffty PS3 that comes with lax security features, no compatability for previous incarnations, and an online service that is rife with lag unless you buy the premium service.

I haven't had any lag issues.

I'm not sure why people keep saying "this console lags this one is better".
Using PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 I can easily say that there was only ever any lag with certain players, and they were probably just lagging.

The compact disc was first produced in 1984. Sony has done jack stuff productive in the last 13 years.

They did do some great things in their heyday, like the 3.5mm audio jack and the Walkman, but now they're trying to warp the market to fill their money lust.

It doesn't matter what you feel, you are buying the license.

And it should stay that way.
It isn't that way, so it can't stay that way.
