I like my S2, it started with gingerbread (2.3) but I upgraded it to 4.0. It's been reliable. I think it's pretty cheap now.

HTC Evo 3D.

THIS monday TAKES loving 3D PICTURES HOLY stuff

You shouldn't get an Iphone 5. The back of the phone starts curving in certain models.

Sony Experia Play.
Dat physical gamepad.

choose one:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galaxy_Nexus - a bit slower and less RAM
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nexus_4 - touch responsiveness and physical sliding issues

I highly recommend the HTC One X+. Its a loving powerhouse of a phone. I absolutely love it. It ships with android jellybean 4.1 and will be getting the 4.2 update as well. ;)

You will NOT be disappointed with this phone.

Be like port

Get an outdated Galaxy Nexus

(Port we'll argue some more later)

if you have the money, galaxies and iphones are great

if you have the money, galaxies and iphones are great

I agree.

Pick iOS for the rich app store.

Pick Android for the range of designs, catering of different budgets, and immediate room for loving around with your device if you are into that stuff.

Take mine. It's got dementia.
I can rarely send a text without the keyboard freaking out and posting long strings of :-):-):-):-)---...,.,..;;./,;.;,:-):-):-)adsv:-):-):-),;,. and then sending it. Then it tries to select random words and it keeps asking if I want to cut/copy them. Then it opens the calculator and types 11111111111111111111111111111 11.

Sony xperia* Play.
Dat physical gamepad.
I have this and I reccomend it somewhat. not very reliable after a year, but handy for emulating. They no longer make these
