i heard about "Mother 4", it's just a fangame and it's story is pretty bland.
also, there will be no official Mother 4 (or at least it won't be made by the same company who made the other games). the creator himself said "If anyone out there wants to make Mother 4, go ahead."

Everyone that knows of this game always complains that Nintendo North America always ignores this series.

They don't ignore the series, if it was more successful in it's time, it would have at least been put on virtual console.

If I remember correctly, earthbound was extremely unknown around the time of it's release.

I only heard of it when I saw the character "Ness" in SSB and went "huh?"

It's not as simple as making another one. They'd need to get as much of the original team as possible, and if they couldn't get Itoi, it'd be stuff. In fact as far as I know Itoi doesn't want to make another one, and if he's fine with the series as it is we can't force him to make another game.
