Was just thinking that, but then you raise the need of having to have the Cow give birth, and keep it fed.
If there's enough grass for Cow grazing, then you might as well use that as food anyway.
Or, since you're not going to be getting much milk from this cow, you should probably just kill it and harvest it for every single useful thing it has.
