i have 16gb of ram and i can render 720p video (havent tested 1080 as it will take 3 hours and not worth it) and i can play games on max settings while it does so

16gb really isnt necessary. I would have lowered mine, but the site would not let me go below 16gb

Yes it is. For what he's doing. He will be doing intensive video rendering/editing.

Let me repeat myself again. There are several ways out there for something to use 16GB easily, whether is video rendering or hosting multiple servers. I'm pretty sure there's also instances where 64GB of RAM can be fully used by server hosting.
