Author Topic: Do you support the second amendment?  (Read 17325 times)

im pretty sure that giving people more personal freedom isnt backwards
They seem to be less about personal freedom, and more about their kind of perfect society, where it's whoever has the biggest ammo stockpile and most food rules, without government or anything, just a free-for-all. I've never really seen a Libertarian that wasn't like that.

that would be the crazy doomsday prepper demographic

I generally agree, but the Supreme Court has already made pretty clear that the Constitution should be interpreted to mean that people have the right to bear arms separate of the right to be in a militia.

And also, at least in the past, it would appear that Congress does not rewrite the Constitution, instead they make void a past part. This would make an even weirder situation when you read Amendment 2 and it says one thing and then Amendment 28 says that Amendment 2 is void and the new Amendment is "people have the right to have arms." And if they did just actually rewrite the second amendment, there would be so much fear throughout the voting population that it would probably never happen.

But if it could be rewritten, that would be really nice.

But left handed people tend to be smarter than right handed people!!!
Left handed people live shorter lives.

Glory to the independents. forget the Democrats and Republicans.

I'm interested in buying a rifle to go target shooting, it seems like a really fun hobby. But mean the system could be a lot better to keep guns out of the hands of people that shouldn't own them.
A criminal will always find a way to get a gun, even if it means getting it from out of country.

gun laws you say

Except that the people that go on shooting sprees aren't criminals, they're mental unstable. The point is that we need to regulate gun sales via more in-depth background checks, so that crazies or their immediate family can't get them.

So Al-Queda bombed the twin towers with a plane.

so you are saying first offense =/= a crime lol...

obviously they're a criminal after the shooting, derp
unfortunately background checks can't see the future

criminals or not. metally ill or not. that dosnt stop or even slow a person down from getting a gun lol.

i mean if you are criminal enough to plan for a mass shooting, then getting a gun is probably the easiest part of the plan. regardless of current or future laws.

Police need weapons to protect the general public from injustices.

Civilians don't.

Go buy a taser, they are great.

then why couldnt the police protect sandyhook? stuff even if the cops had better weapons, they didnt even show up on time anyways.

Guns are used as a recreational activity. Fewer than .005% of guns are used to hurt anybody in the first place, so there's an even smaller number of guns that are used for defense. Are you going to target shoot with a taser? Certainly not.

guns can act as a deterrent as well.
i dont think the shooters would shoot up a school knowing that the teachers are armed. they choose schools because they know they're "gun free zones"
ever see a mass shooting at a police station?
