Yeah but with any future price cuts it would take more than just one game to make a profit now.
You know that most, if not all playstations have been sold at a loss, right?

Oh well. NES didn't work with SNES. Snes Didn't work with N64. PS2 doesn't work with PS3. Windows XP doesn't work with vista and 7.

NDS doesn't work with 3DS.

NDS doesn't work with 3DS.

if you're talking about backward compatibility
nds games work on 3ds

obviously not vice versa

Windows XP doesn't work with vista and 7.
what? if you mean games for XP, then no, you're wrong, and they do in fact work on Vista and 7

Wii games work on Wii U :cookieMonster:

God loving dammit. The PS2 has backwards compatibility, what were they thinking removing it from the PS3? And now they're continuing down this route? God dammit.

Except Vita and PS3 are sold separately and their combined prices reach up to 1000$, if you bought PS3 on its launch date with the 600$ price tag. Why do i count the PS3's launch price? Because Wii U is on its launch price right now and it wouldn't be fair to compare.

How much will this thing even cost?
PS3 was 600$ on release, if we count the inflation and whatever thingiemajigs of whatevers cha blablebbers (disclaimer: no actual research has been made) it would be around 550$.

You have to physically include previous console parts in your new console for backwards compatibility (except for when Microsoft used a software wrapper but not all games were supported). The original PS3 was completely compatible with PS2 games because it literally had the essentials of a PS2 inside of it.

The PS3 Slim had the PS2's components removed. Notice how the price dropped, too? It's cheaper to make when you don't include backwards compatibility.

If the PS4 was backwards compatible with PS3 it would be crazy expensive because in essence there would be a PS3 INSIDE your PS4.

backwards compatability is an issue but come on guys-if you want to play ps3 games, just use your ps3

Gamecube worked with Wii

The Black Wiis don't have backwards compatibility, sadly

Yeah I'm not making the mistake of selling my PS3 like I did with my PS2.

Black

Well there's your problem.
